Well, it depends doesn’t it? If a new AD just brings his entourage of cronies with him, then what is gained? This is what Helton did. A USC alum may not have a clique of cronies and may have to hire based on competitive interviews and review of performance. In fact, a USC alum is more likely to now know of coaches in all the sports as would an existing AD. Find the best person for the job.
