USC Morning Buzz: Crosstown Rivalry Betting Line

USC is a 6-point favorite over UCLA per Fox Bet, which also has the Trojans a 4-point underdog at Oregon and 3-point favorite at Stanford.

Fox Bet has USC a 13.5-point underdog to Alabama. I mentioned yesterday that DraftKings has USC a 16.5-point underdog to the Crimson Tide. Maybe DraftKings factored in the Helton effect.

  • The Associated Press will release its final Top 25 basketball poll on Wednesday. Will a team be crowned national champs off the poll? Kansas was No. 1 in last week’s poll.
  • Here’s a color photo of former USC tailback Jon Arnett vs. Washington in 1955, the same year he was an All-American.

And here is a picture I took of Arnett’s game jersey at it looks today.

  1. Never knew there were betting lines this early for games other than season opener.

    1. Good call, 67. Watching Arnett run was a joy. So smooth. Such balance– cutting left or right. Anyone who has not seen him run owes it to himself to go to YouTube and watch his spectacular TD’s playing for the Los Angeles Rams (especially those great games against the Chicago Bears)…..

      1. Speaking of the running game, next season we could have a great one. Would certainly take a lot of pressure off of Slovis and keep the D off the field.

Stepp would be Mr. Inside, he averaged about 6.4 yards per carry last year, often dragging 2 or 3 tacklers, and Christon could be Mr. Outisde.

      2. So fricking true, 67. When talking about this season’s offensive punch, people keep saying Slovis this or Slovis that —but they seems to be forgetting about Markese and Kenan —two extraordinary backs who are both coming back healthy and experienced.

      3. Michael, absolutely. We are no longer recruiting at the same level so I really am looking forward to seeing these guys on the field as much as possible (and hope that recruiting picks up sometime soon).

      4. Bohn is hoping the 2020 team wins the Pac 12 (and a major bowl), & recruiting takes care of itself. If they don’t, however, EVERYTHING will depend on kicking Helton to the curb and announcing a BIG NAME replacement before the end of the season.
