USC Saturday Buzz: Happy Fourth Of July!

    1. Oh no, no football till Spring because cases are up but deaths are down. By then, Frau Folt may have dropped all men’s sports at USC anyway

    2. Happy 4th of July??!! Creation of this country has been nothing but misery for the black man! You white men bitch and moan because of little taxes on your teas… Taxation with out representation?? Try slavery and no right to vote on for size! You’d say “don’t shoot till you see the whites of their eye” We say “by any means necessary” Still waiting on the independence day for all Americans!

Frederick Douglass Fourth of July speech was challenging not only the white racists of his day, but also the “enlightened” white abolitionists who thought America was irredeemable and wanted to throw away its founding documents. Today, we have Democrats who declare that America is irredeemable and is more racist than it has ever been and want to replace Washington and Jefferson with Mao and Che.

        If you had bothered to pay attention, Douglass’ speech actually praised the American Revolution:

        “Fellow Citizens, I am not wanting in respect for the fathers of this republic. The signers of the Declaration of Independence were brave men. They were great men too — great enough to give fame to a great age. It does not often happen to a nation to raise, at one time, such a number of truly great men. The point from which I am compelled to view them is not, certainly, the most favorable; and yet I cannot contemplate their great deeds with less than admiration. They were statesmen, patriots and heroes, and for the good they did, and the principles they contended for, I will unite with you to honor their memory.

        They loved their country better than their own private interests; and, though this is not the highest form of human excellence, all will concede that it is a rare virtue, and that when it is exhibited, it ought to command respect. He who will, intelligently, lay down his life for his country, is a man whom it is not in human nature to despise. Your fathers staked their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, on the cause of their country. In their admiration of liberty, they lost sight of all other interests.

        They were peace men; but they preferred revolution to peaceful submission to bondage. They were quiet men; but they did not shrink from agitating against oppression. They showed forbearance; but that they knew its limits. They believed in order; but not in the order of tyranny. With them, nothing was “settled” that was not right. With them, justice, liberty and humanity were “final;” not slavery and oppression. You may well cherish the memory of such men. They were great in their day and generation. Their solid manhood stands out the more as we contrast it with these degenerate times….

        Their statesmanship looked beyond the passing moment, and stretched away in strength into the distant future. They seized upon eternal principles, and set a glorious example in their defense. Mark them!”

        Douglass fought slavery and saw it defeated by the time he was in middle age. He also challenged the anti-Constitution ideologues of his day to study the Constitution for themselves, and see the potential for all Americans to thrive, instead of mindlessly repeating what they’d heard.

        Today must also challenge those who want to indiscriminately tear down everything about America, including the right of all Americans, among them blacks, to buy, sell, and own property, own their own labor, and accumulate wealth for their children.

        That’s what the 4th of July is all about.

        In his speech, Douglass says: “The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity and independence, bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you, not by me. The sunlight that brought life and healing to you, has brought stripes and death to me. This Fourth [of] July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice, I must mourn.”

        Yet after the Civil War Douglass built up a small fortune, which he used, along with his formidable talents, to liberate and educate countless others. Could he have imagined his descendants remaining mired in self pity 155 years after the Civil War ended?

        Frederick Douglass is rolling over in his grave after this stunt by his victicrat descendants.

        Actually there is a 14% black population here in the US. Instead of blaming the white man for slavery u better blame the black man for slavery. See, they sold there own people for money or goods.

        I’m tired of hearing the white man is a racist. That is a general remark for all whites. It is easy for me to say all blacks are gangbangers, racists, and belong to the black panthers.   3. Happy fourth of July. When you look at the choice made by the men who signed the Declaration of independence, you have to understand a signature on that document was an act of treason. We owe a lot to those men

    1. The men who signed that document knew exactly what was in store for them if they didn’t triumph —death by hanging. There isn’t ONE person today– on either side of the aisle— with that much political courage….
