Friday Buzz: Who Wins USC-Colorado And A Steve Lopes Sighting

With an early kickoff, it’s time to pick the score of the USC-Colorado game.

USC is 14-0 vs. Colorado. Could it possibly lose this game?

I don’t have much faith in the Buffs.

Frankly, I don’t have much faith in USC’s coaches, Kedon Slovis or the defense. But they should all be better than Colorado.

So I’m taking USC, 31-24.

  • Steve Lopes has kept a low profile since being fired by USC. But he another former USC administrator, Ron Orr, were on Zoom for a Boston courtroom today in a Varsity Blues trial.

The duo invoked their Fifth Amendment rights when asked if USC had ever admitted students as walk-on athletes when their parents donated money.

I hear Lopes has been working with the Jimmy Kimmel Bowl since leaving USC.

    1. USC wins the game easily, because Karl Dorrell really is as dumb as he looks on the sidelines. And Bru McCoy needs to go find a community college to play at, until he comes to grips that he’s mentally unstable.

  1. Only men as good and decent as Jimmy Kimmel and Steve Lopes can save Los Angeles. Their wonderfulness continues to bring joy to all of California
One more feather in Lopes’ cap.

      1. I’d put Orlando as “Moe”, Helton as “Curley” (though I hate to besmirch Curley that way), and Harrell would be “Larry”.

      2. 67… Shame on you for demeaning the Stooges. Their comedy was intended. Well at least you acknowledged that you besmirched Curly’s good name.

As a talented investigative report can you please provide an update on Bru McCoy. USC has kept this case very quiet as they always do, but the kid and his family deserve better treatment, and the true story needs to be brought out in public which might push USC to finally make their decision.

    1. Without investigation and based on nothing in particular, I’ve come up with the following finding: USC will NEVER announce the status of Bru McCoy….

      1. MG, isn’t McCoy still subject to civil litigation regarding his arrest even though the DA decided not to file criminal chgs? No doubt SUCC doesn’t wish to be dragged into a ugly, public, can of worms, civil trial.

#out of sight, out of mind.

      2. …Understand your point —but lots of people connected to the USC Athletic Department are still theoretically “subject to civil litigation”….. we need to move forward ….

      3. Yup… If I ignore it, it will go away. Seems like we’ve been down this roads many times and yet SC Admin thinks this time it will work. Just goota have more faith, that’s all.

  3. BTW,
There is no way on earth of predicting the score in tomorrow’s game. Or the score of the Notre Dame game. Or the UCLA game.

    1. Given the yo-yo play, an investigation into the team and Admin should be made to see if anyone has a gambling problem or connections. Hey, just speculating given that this is another lost season.

    1. Just Rent,

You are right you don’t drink. But the question is what don’t you drink? We all know you drink Night Train, but is it that you don’t drink water or tea or something else? Just wondering

      1. pasadenatrojan, you wine cooler drinking punk a$$ mutha F@cker. Shut your mouth and stop besmirching the wine of south central “night train”
It’s much better to drink Night Train and Thunderbird than to drink the fruity wine cooler.
Did you and your father line up together and take it up the butt while you shared a california wine cooler?

  4. USC and Colorado tomorrow are both irrelevant programs at the moment frankly so is the entire Pac 12 rather other than Oregon, and perhaps UCLA. The UCLA/ASU game tomorrow is probably for the Pac 12 South championship so I am sure Clay Helton will be there since the South is all he ever cared about.

  5. Trojan1967,

I have respect for you. However, I did not care that you compared the Three Stooges to Helton, Harrell and Orlando. The real Three Stooges always were able to get the job done by unorthodox ways, but they got done. Helton, Harrell, and Orlando have done one thing sucessfully and that is to lose and lose BIG TIME with better talent than most teams.

It is frustrating to see SC go through hell. I know you were trying ot be funny, but the real Three Stooges are very special, just like the Marx Brothers. Slap stick comedy and dry humor are awesome because of them. Thank you for understanding.

    1. PT, I stand corrected. Well-done, brother. The original three (and Shemp) were outstanding. Nothing ever like them. When Paul Giammatti (who plays the DA in “Billions”) was asked if he wanted to play Larry in a movie about the Stooges some years ago, he reportedly said “I can’t do Larry justice. Nobody could. He was that good.”

      1. Trojan1967,

Thank you for understanding. I like you and respect you.

My favorite Stooge was Curly. He was the mastermind of the whole group. Moe thought he was but it was Curly with his unusual way of getting his pooint across and won over both Larry and Moe over.

With the Marx Brothers, Groucho with his one liners, Chico with his Italian style of phylospshy, and Harpo with his humor were a great team. All of the Marx Brothers were excellent muscians. I saw Harpo in a movie play the harp. He was a concerto with his playing.

Comedians now a days can’t get by with out a bad word. It is because they don’t want to work at their craft. Cussing is not creative or work, it is just being lazy. You never heard bad words from Red Skelton, Bill Cosby, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, the two groups above and others while they were working.

See I grew up with these groups. They were a great influence on all of us.

  6. Now, my quesiton is, do we want SC to go undefeated in the Southern Division and play in the conference champsionship game and win that or do we want SC to completely and uttterly be destroyed by all teams from now on. If we go undefeated then I woud be happy for the players. If we go imploding, then it will tell the ADM. that the change had to happen years ago and they need to hire a BIG time coach. The SC ADM needs to honor the program, the alumni, the former and current players, the coaches and SC by hiring a BIG Time coach.

    1. I really dont think Donte has a real chance to be the HC and that whether they succeed or fail, they are aiming for the best coach possible. I dont really agree with what many people call a “big time” coach. Urban Meyer was a great coach when he was using the spread offense ahead of other coaches, but is he still ahead of the curve? I would honestly rather than Dave Aranda or Luke Fickell than any of the other big names. Aranda is a schematic savant and he will only coach at Baylor for another couple years before a top program hires him as HC. I hope we are smart enough to be that team.

We hired the dumbest coach possible in Clay, so let’s try the opposite.

  7. Speaking of the 3 Stooges- ” The 3 Stooges Meet the “Wolfman”” was a classic episode. No task was too difficult for those 3 something I cannot say about Folt, Bohn, and the late Clay Helton.

Another great team was Abbott and Costello- “The Abbott and Costello Meet Frankstein” was another classic episode.

  8. My high school coach used the phrase, “monkey fucking a football, ” to describe just about any clusterfuck he saw. Unfortunately that phrase has been stuck on my mind all day whenever I thought about tomorrow ‘s game. My problem is figuring out which team will be the monkey and which will be the football.
The score will be Monkey 35 Football 28

  9. It seems as though Dart will not play, so sc won’t win. sc points will come in 1st half if any, sc can’t do much in second half’cause teams adjust ,slovis is a statue and refuses to run, sc can’t run block or pass block;defense is now suspect…whatta’mess.
    17-14 colorado…hope I am wrong.
