It looks like retiring sports information director Tim Tessalone is going out with a bang!

Here’s the email USC sent out today on Drake London:

    1. An incredible year, cut short by bad luck. Hopefully he heals well and can continue to play. I haven’t seen any articles about him having surgery to repair ligaments or tendons or to reset the bones, so fingers crossed.

      1. Good for Tim! At the very least it would be cool if voters were given the option of awarding an Extraordinary Accomplishment trophy. Drake gave all college football fans something special this year. The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation would do itself proud by thinking outside the box.

      2. By the way —what does it say about USC’s football program when our coaching staff decides in Spring Camp, “we we only have ONE great player —let’s just give him the ball & let him do all the work for us—that’ll be our whole offense….guess our job is done!”….??
Vegas bookies are saying USC lost SEVEN points a game due to Drake’s injury. That’s tantamount to saying “USC’s Offensive Coordinator can’t adjust to losing his #1 player….and isn’t worth shit.”

      3. Yeah, who was that dude(ette) suggesting that the PTT and achilles were torn?

I did a google search and found an Ortho dude who specialized in hand surgery named Dr. Seth.

        SMDH.

    2. This is a reminder of the classic Eagles song New Kid in Town “everyone loves you until someone new comes along…” Unfortunately, Drake London isn’t at a school that will promote him. Hell, they don’t even save Bru McCoy from the SC Kangeroo Court that has already destroyed other SC football players.

    3. That’s the most effort that worthless son of a bitch Tessalone has done on behalf of a player in over a decade.

Trying to clear his conscience, as if the asshole had one.

  1. Drake London had a tremendous season, but voters sometimes lose focus on a player if they injured early on or in the middle of the season.

Drake is a premier receiver, but no better than Michael Pittman, Mike Williams, Sam Dickerson, Bob Chandler, Lynn Swann, Marquis Lee, Keyshawn, and of course Robert Woods who I think is the best USC receiver ever.

    1. Disagree on some parts, but a nice list of premier USC WR.

I have to say, over my 52 years of watching, no one was more electric than “Just give me the ball.”

No one could cover him on the deep slant/post.
In the return game, he could be lethal.
Sadly, he was mostly squandered by the Jets who never quite could buy him a reputable QB.

Trump on a crucifix is not a smart thing to portray. I am sure you think it is funny, but it is not. You are taking something sacred, when Christ died on the cross for us sinners and making a mockery of it. Howevef, the Romans did crucify Christians on the cross back in the day, but that has not been done lately. But then what do you expect from a ruin punk ass.

  3. I agree….he should win it. If he had only played 2 games and done well, that would be another story. But he played 8 games. That’s 2/3 of a season. He should win it.

    1. ..or receive some sort of Special Award…
The year Drake had was too extraordinary to be ignored. 8 games or 12 games –he was the best receiver of the year. And everybody knows it.

      1. Well if that’s true then they will certainly hire another perrenial mediocre 7-5 coach and it time to move on from “Fight ON” to “Roll Tide”.

  4. I was listening to one of those football pundants and he said that USC was at a disadvantage because at most of the other schools you had one guy in charge of hiring. He was going to make the final decision and whatever he chose to do, the school would back him up 100%. Whereas at SC there 3 people who will make the decision and therefore there was less cohesion. I don’t know who he meant by the 3 people. I would imagine that he meant Bohn, Folt and Caruso but I’m not sure. But he said that when you have 3 people there is less ability to move forward because of the disagreements among the 3.

    2. They have three because not one of them has the courage to make a decision on their own. Which of the three would you like making the decision? All three do not have high football IQs and from what I see they are not great a basic management either.

    3. Parcelman007,

The three clowns are no three stooges. The three stooges would put their minds together and choose the correct one. The Clowns that SC has can’t decide which water they want to drink let alone a coach.

  5. He should win not only that but the heisman for what he has been able to accomplish and put up with whilst being surrounded by numbskull and incompetent coaches (in particular an OC whose system and plays every opponents with iq of 30 and above can figure out) and uninspiring, unschooled and non-threatening offensive teammates causing him to often be double or triple teamed

    1. ABC you’ve done it! You’ve solved the mystery of Donte’s quarterback rotation. He was trying to prove he is inept so London’s feats would seem even more miraculous. This hasn’t occurred to me before. Donde wants that award so he can make his case for keeping the job.

  6. USC’s football team is ranked 70th in the country by CBS Sports. It started as 12th and relentlessly worked it’s way to it’s present standing— deteriorating a little more each week.
We are now 1 point favorites over a team ranked 2nd to last in the Pac 12.
[We were ranked in the Top Ten of CBS’s Power Rankings before the season started —so our present ranking is ALL on the “coaching staff” Bohn put together]…..

  7. Of all the lame duck coaches this season, I wonder who is the lamest and who is the duck? Now I know. Donte’s got it for lamest coach ever cementing his place with the laughable quarterback rotation. The duck part is a toss up between Todd Orlando and Clay McGuire. Orlando teaches the duck tackle with players waddling behind the ball weakly trying to pull the carrier down. And Clay teaches the duck and cover block. The only thing worse is the armadillo block.
No bowl for lame ducks is fine for me.

    1. You’re right —but ya gotta admit McGuire doesn’t have much to work with. O-Line players coming out of high school are warned by recruiters to “stay away from USC —you won’t get coached up.”

      1. For a guy that I said was a total waste to have hired in the first place with nothing on his resume that qualified him as a good O-Line coach, I have to admit….I don’t think that he has done such a bad job…..the run game has certainly improved.

  8. The “Sports Information Director” was a newish entity in 1979 when I hit campus. I remember thinking, WTH? We pay people to publicize USC sports? Doesn’t winning Baseball and Football and Swim natty’s every year do it for US?

TT has ridden that wave at one school his entire career. A lot of bad press, sanction, and scandal a long the way. I’m not sure I could blame TT for any of the fiascoes USC FB (and OJ Mayo) brought on the school.

Not his fault that Ricky Bell did NOT get the Heisman he deserved.
Not his fault Keyshawn did NOT get the Biletnikoff he deserved.
