I cannot believe more fans have not complained about the seats at the renovated Coliseum.
They are smaller than the old seats and when people sit on each side of you it is really a tight fit.
The seats are like those used in European soccer stadiums: Cheap and small.
If I got my seats moved following the renovation and paid for season tickets, I would be furious that these are the seats I’m expected to squeeze into every game.
And of course, the popular reply will be “no one goes to the games so there is plenty of room” but that’s not the point when the seats are smaller than before.
- This is an extraordinary puff piece.

Unfortunately, we’ll likely have to wait until the end of the 2024 or 2025 season to know if the hire is any good.
Look at how long the Bruins tolerated the Chipper’s losing program.

Has anyone read anywhere where Aranda has said he’s not a candidate for the USC job ?
LikeLiked by 3 people
I haven’t seen anyone denying Aranda’s interest in USC. But some of the LSU blogs think he will go to LSU. Despite the rumor that LSU offered Lincoln Riley close to $100 million for 8 years.

I don’t think we’re looking for someone who’s purely a great coach — I think we’re gonna try to combine (1) solid coach with (2) social warrior who talks Carol Folt “Path of Righteousness” B. S.
And I think Mike Bohn is just the right guy to lead that kind of search. …

No. In his press conference after Orgeron was fired, he deflected when asked about other jobs, instead talking about how it was difficult news. I don’t think USC necessarily has to out-bid LSU.

Agree that USC may not need to outbid LSU. Hometown fella, plus Palos Verdes or Manhattan Beach or you name the SoCal location, versus Baton Rouge, which he knows, and which is virtually uninhabitable between mid-May and end of September.

I don’t trust Mike Bohn’s judgment for anything pertaining to football, because he did not have the ability to recognize that Clay Helton was running the program into the ground when he arrived. Bohn also thought Todd Orlando was the answer for the defensive coordinator position after Tom Herman fired him at Texas. And remind me once again why was it necessary to extend Graham Harrell’s contract ? Does Bohn have the ability to evaluate head coaching candidates?
LikeLiked by 4 people
Thank you Bill!!! When one sees the level of devastatingly incompetent decisions made by Bohn in the past, it is not comforting to believe he will make the right decision for a head coach. Anyone who would leave an idiot like helton in place to further destroy the program is not a good manager. Regarding Orlando, if they “looked at the Orlando Texas film” as helton liked to claim he would do following a game, it is clear Orlando is a non-creative poor coach who doesn’t seem to understand offenses well enough to provide a counter. As for harrell, Mike Leach is a genius and he has not made it to the National Championship, how could a copycat fool like harrell have success???

Bill —Bohn has already received his marching orders. Folt, being who and what she is, has tasked him with finding a coach who (1) can quote rap lyrics, (2) believes in something “new” when it comes to energy, (3) talks about giving everybody “space”, (4) knows his football well enough to talk to donors for hours.
In other words, we are gonna get a better version of Helton. Nothing more, nothing less.

Great questions.
During Bohn’s tenure (more or less), Helton had 11 wins (mostly ugly) and 3 UGLY losses (two to Oregon, 1 to Iowa). Hard to fire a guy who is 11-3–even if the smell was stinky. The Stanford loss sealed the deal.
And we’re moving on. You got Bohn for two more years, at least. If this new hire is not 9-3 very soon, then Mike will be retiring. This board has brought up some great names and some truly silly names for HC.

My only hope here is that Bohn knew no DC worth his salt was willing to take the SC DC job knowing that Helton was ultimately out the door. Orlando took it because he had the advantage of not currently being employed.

I guess the question of the day was how tiny are the Coli seats.
A rejoinder also may be that the American @$$ has grown enormously.
I hate to agree with Just Owns, but the Coliseum should have been blown down after the Raiders left town. At least we have SoFi now.
1. Rebuild the football brand
2. Demolish the Coliseum, before it crumbles during a 5.9 richter

Likely the suites are larger and more grand for the BOT and their buddies. I always remember Haden said Petersen was “not country club material.” I think their priorities are skewed. Petersen is a remarkable coach that can develop players. At Boise he made 0 star players into 5 stars. helton reversed that trend to make 5 stars into 0 stars with BOT watching.

does anyone give a ture accounting on how many people showed up? If not, then I say that the crowd was around 33K.

Maybe a bit higher? low-mid 40K? That would have been about 55%-60% capacity.

By winning, UCLA keeps Chip Kelly on. Even by winning, they find some way to lose. Better stock up on cookies before the Chipper makes his run on them. I was there. I would say on the SC North side, which was pretty packed, there may have been 30,000. The south side had an incredibly low 5,000, maybe, and the closed west end maybe another 4,000, so I would say about 40,000 or so, slightly more than half full.
I did not notice the smallness of the seats, but then again I don’t have a large fanny.

Yeah we are all talking about USC football, but most of the conversation is about how poor a job the new athletic director is doing. I believe his name is Mike Bohn who promised all these new resources including the new seats at Coliseum would pay dividends.
What’s the point of going to a game if the seats are uncomfortable, and the product on the field is impossible to watch.
Just curious Mr. Bohn please explain what you have accomplished in two years at USC. If I were you it’s not too late to put your home in Manhattan Beach on the market as someone including yourself has to pay for all the mistakes that have been made in the last two years. If you think your job is secure at USC you are completely wrong. You said recently it is impossible to make everyone happy at a university my problem with that is you are not making anyone happy.
