USC Will Play A Half-Scrimmage Saturday

The USC scrimmage on ESPN on Saturday will actually be one half of a football scrimmage, according to Lincoln Riley.

“We just don’t quite have enough bodies,” Riley said.

This a bit of a comedown from Saturday, when Riley said, “I can tell you this, it’s not going to be a game of tag. We’re going to play football.”

But USC cannot field two full squads right now so instead of a full spring scrimmage it will be a half-game scrimmage. At least tickets are free.

Below is what former USC kicker Parker Lewis said after attending the Ohio State scrimmage. He has not chosen a new school yet.

    1. Nothing else to do in Columbus. And by nothing, I mean nothing. You gotta win, and win a lot, for people in SoCal to take time away from the hundreds of other distractions competing for your attention. I can’t stand tOSU, but if I lived in Columbus, I’d still probably go to the spring game. Why? What else am I gonna do? Enter one of the 147 weekly cornhole tournaments?

      1. Jeffrey,
tebow asked me to ask if you could give out the addresses for each of those147 tournaments… [he knows no one else is interested so he asked that you email them directly to Nancy Pelosi’s Office where he can pick them up after work]….

    2. Half a scrimmage to go along with half ass coaching.

There’s no difference between ‘Ol Mule Shoe and Clueless Clay.

Soft practices, avoid contact, which means no tackling. The regimen mirrors a girls powder puff league.

No wonder ‘Ol Mule Shoe has closed practices…shameful.

      LOL!

  1. Dear Parker,
Hope you pick The Ohio State as your final college football destination. Hope we see you in the Rose Bowl —there should be plenty of people watching.

      1. But it was such good stuff it deserved to be run again, MG

I have been to Columbus, and besides football you can go down to the river’s edge and watch the muddy water rolling by.

One of the SC players said Wiley’s offense is not much different than Helton’s. Figures. How many different ways can a guy throw or catch a football?

    1. Really encouraging –they’re moving forward on all fronts and they should be in a great situation by fall camp (I just wish this article didn’t appear in an obituary sheet —what’s with that)?

      1. As a superstitious person [I can still hear my grandpappy telling me never to leave two knives crossed in the kitchen sink] I wish they’d place the USC stuff elsewhere…

  3. Scott,
In that same time with the media where LR made the “tag” comment he also mentioned playing a half of football, it’s not new. Pay attention little buddy, it will help with your “reporting”.

  4. I was at that Hawaii game. I was up in the suites with the buffet. I have never met a buffet that I didn’t like. I could tell right away that the transfer running back Charbonnet was very very good.

    1. Agreed. [Now, let’s see him do it with a completely rebuilt O-Line —including two new, very average tackles]….
