USC Morning Buzz: Would You Rather Be The Star Or Win?

My emerging star for USC this season is wide receiver Brenden Rice, the transfer from Colorado.

But a Pac-12 coach discussed with me this week whether it would be better to be the star (at Colorado) or to be part of a receiving corps with Mario Williams, Gary Bryant, maybe Jordan Addison, Terrell Bynum, Tahj Washington, etc.?

I suppose it all depends on how much Rice plays. I think he’ll start.

    1. Sadly, Karen B will likely be voted in by the liberal electorate of LA city.

If Caruso wins, it will be a prelude to a devastating November for Joe, Kamala, Chuck and Nancy.

      1. If there isn’t a big red wave in November, we are all screwed. He’s done so much damage in less than 16 months. I can’t imagine how much more he would do, if left to his own devices.

It truly is amazing that many of his supporters are still in absolute denial about what a failure he is and how dumb they are, for having thought it would be any different. They have a lot of blood on their hands.

    2. Michael, Caruso wins only if he starts paying LAers to vote for him. He probably needs about 500,000 votes at $1,000 per is $500 million, which might wipe him out.

      1. No former SUCC NFL starting QB’s have yet to win or lose a SB. One or two have mopped up in garbage time for losers.

Carson “the Bomber” Palmer came close. But he single handedly cost the AZ a SB trip with a ugly, humiliating loss in the NFL Championship game. “The Bomber,” all by his lonesome, cranked 3 or 4 int’s and committed 2 unforced fumble T/O’s. But hey, “the Bomber” is filthy rich.

  1. If I am Rice or Bynum, I am feeling a bit cheated. They probably thought that they could be the featured receiver or at least start for a pass happy coach and showcase their skills. Now they will probably find themselves behind Mario Williams and Addison and likely Bryant and maybe Washington and Ford. Does anyone think C.W. Williams made the right choice? He’s looking at a redshirt with a bevy of new receivers coming in the next year.

The guy you slammed kept the world a safer place. Thousands in Ukraine wouldn’t be losing their lives, if he were still in office.

If it meant placating Putin or Pudgy Little Rocket Man, so be it. I’d rather let them feel good about themselves than seeing bodies tossed into mass graves.

        But hey, that’s just me.

You are drunk, as usual. Your stupid antic of saying that no SC Trojan qb has won a super bowl is stupid and as usual, wrong. Mike Rae was with the Raiders when they won a Super bowl. I think Pete Beathard was on a team that won one. You did not say that they had to start. Now crawl back into your two story cardboard box on Cerritos Blvd and get ready for the friday night drinking session.

John Elway lost 3 before he won 2
    Fran Tarkenton lost 3
Jim Kelly lost 4 (in a row!)

  3. Former USC running back Ricky Ervins made a very correct statement in his recent U-Tube interview with Ryan Abraham on Tunnel Vision.

” I can believe colleges these days including USC are offering scholarships to high performing athletes in the 7 & 7 off season passing leagues. The correct way to evaluate players is to observe how they perform in actual “real” physical football games.” In his opinion this is why many 4 and 5 star recruits are way overrated coming into college. Corey Foreman, might be an example of this if he does not develop this season.

What a football player Ricky Ervins was- and not highly recruited. Raleek Brown our incoming recruit from Mater Dei is the same type of back- small, strong, physical, great speed, and hands.

USC needs to take his advise to get back to physical football. We are loaded at WR already getting Jordan Addison will not make us champions again, and will probably hurt team morale. Rice, is going to be a 1st round pick as a wide receiver once he develops. No way we need more than 8 WR’s on the roster especially if we are lacking depth at the up front positions on both lines. Don’t forget we have the Top QB and Top 5 Receiver in the country already signed, sealed, and delivered for the 2023 season.
Having some depth is fine, but when your overloaded these days many will immediately transfer even right before the season starts even though they might have to sit out the season.

  4. OWNS- is correct USC has not had a Super Bowl QB. UCLA has one, but UCLA never wins championships in football, and is barely competitive which is the reason no one cares about the program, and attends the games. UCLA has a huge deficit in their athletic budget because……..the program has never produced a consistent winning program. Hard to believe UCLA extended “Cheeseburger Chip” which is an indication the entire athletic department, students, and alumni have accepted inferiority in football.

    1. sucla’s problems with its football program are similar to SC’s with its basketball program. In this town, Los Angeles, if you don’t win,
      “they will not come.”

SC has had up-and-down seasons so it has never established a loyal fan base.

And sucla football’s last big year was nearly a quarter of a century ago in 1998 when they flubbed away a possible Football National Championship.

      1. Yeah, all because of the stinking Pete Dalis. Dalis forced the Bruins to travel to Miami to make-up game (not necessary) that was canceled due to a major hurricane (no pun intended).

The week prior to the UCLA – Miami game, Miami lost a game like 50 – zip, so ‘Canes were primed to redeem themselves with a home town victory.

    2. Incorrect tommyd; the current record for most consecutive Rivalry FB Game victories is 8. That record belongs to the barely competitive Bruins.

I guess the inexact definition of competitive & consistency is located in the loser’s limited dictionary.

  5. I too think Rice will start. I also think that they will use a lot of receivers. If you watched Oklahoma last, they had 4 receivers on the field on half of the plays.

  6. So Cal on tonight’s News it was announced that covid-19 is responsible for 1,000,000 US deaths. The same covid-19 that the f**king, douchebag Trump ignored until it was too late. Remember So. Cal? Of course you do.

    1. You mean the virus Dementia Joe campaigned almost entirely on having a plan to defeat? Yet 600K of that 1M died “on his watch”!! So much for him having a great plan! LMAO

Yeah, the guy who said in Oct 2020 that “no one who has had 220K die on his watch should be President”. Almost THREE TIMES that many have died on Dementia Joe’s watch. By his own admission, he shouldn’t be President. Think he’ll hold himself to his own standard and step down?! Of course not. He’s not that honorable.

By the way, Trump didn’t ignore it. He was trying to avoid a panic and stupidly claimed it would disappear. Very dumb, I admit it. But behind the scenes he & his team were developing vaccines in record time!

Anyone with a brain remembered how poorly Barack & Joe handled H1N1. It spread like wildfire and they only lucked out that it wasn’t as fatal. Only a fool believed Dementia Joe would handle COVID any better than Trump did.

It is just like when ugly has played or a national championship in football, wait, they haven’t. They backed in with that 1/2 championship because they did not play in the Rose Bowl in 1954. That is what ugly wanted to do witht he 1998 season, back in, instead of playing Miami. Ugly loves to just back into things, don’t they Just Rent? We all love seeing ugly go down as U Clowns Lose Again.

Both parties approved of tariffs and surprise, surprise our friend inflation came back. USC will win the Pac 12 bot get killed in the Rose Bowl. Bet accordingly and thank me later.

    2. And he keeps talking about throwing even more fuel on the fire. While he may not forgive the entire $1.7T in student debt, forgiving even billions will have an impact on inflation.

As Joe would put it, if the roles were reversed…his policies are inflation on steroids.
