  1. Wolf writes like the athletes are going to be destroyed by the travel. They are kids, resilient, in shape, healthy. They aren’t like Wolf and the majority of us decrepit old people suffering with ailments and stiff joints. They will do just fine with the travel, learning to use it to sleep and study, and to keep up on the latest rap music.

  2. Sounds like me. But I find that a little bit of WD-40 for the joints and duct tape to keep limbs from falling off, and I am ready to go. (What’s rap music? Do mean wrap music as in a gift LP?)

  3. And in other news, Westbrook trade announcement imminent.
Hope Kyrie meets Barbara Ferrer, the LA County quack who single handily destroyed the LA economy in 2020 and 2021 with the public school closures and business shutdowns. Maybe he can teach her something.

      1. That’s easy just go to any He-Man cartoon from the 80s and grab Skelitor. She looks like him in drag.

  4. Andy Stankiewicz is an excellent choice. A true competitor who built Grand Canyon to a power in just a few years, and played in the major league. A true “tiger” as Coach Rod Dedeaux use to say.

  5. Andy Stankiewicz was one of the best athletes ever at St. Paul high school the same school as our own Scott Wolf- “Whittier’s Best”. Great player at Pepperdine, and had a nice career in the major leagues.

He will bring fire back to Trojan baseball I guarantee you that just like Rod did. Moving to the Big Ten will be all positive for USC baseball with much less competition in the Midwest, and East but UCLA will remain the main competition. Should be easier to reach the College World Series now.

  6. I’m not saying Andy Stankiewicz is a bad choice. I will say that the WAC and the Pac-12 (and Big 10) are completely different beasts. Making a conference powerhouse at a university with unlimited money against really bad baseball teams is easy. Rebuilding what is left of SC and playing against the quality of two major conferences is something else completely. And if you look at it, Grand Canyon’s non-conference record was 16-16 this year and they were two and out in the postseason.

But his name has “Stankie” in it, so that could be fun…

    1. Not to worry before the ink is dry on his contract he’ll have lost most of the team to the portal. He’s gonna have to portal a team together like Riley is doing. Recent events might help and if NIL money is better than a minor league paycheck we might be a winner again.

  7. Yes, College baseball is very competitive with all the great program in the Pac 12. USC will struggle at first, and then on to the Big 10 where it will be much easier to contend. When is the last time a Big 10 baseball team won the college world series in baseball. Michigan, is pretty good, but most of the time USC will just have to beat out UCLA to win the conference once the move to the Big 10 is made.

    1. If I’m not mistaken, Stanford was the only team from either conference to advance past the regionals this year. That doesn’t say much for either conference. But SC was LAST in the Pac-12. I would hesitate saying anything about the Trojans winning a league if they can’t finish in front of a single team in a so-so baseball conference.

      1. Someone should tell Wilner that the effective end of Stanford and Cal football occurred several years ago…..

      2. Oregon and Washington should apply to SEC. Big12 should target Arizona and Arizona State in a hostile takeover.

RE OUR MOVE TO BIG TEN I THINK WE HAD TO DO IT NOT ONLY FOR FINANCIAL REASONS BUT TO STAY SUPER RELEVANT IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. IM SURE THE FUTURE IS TWO SUPER CONFERENCES OF TWENTY PLUS TEAMS. ALL THE REST WILL BE IRRELEVANT. SORRY FOR OUR GOOD FRIEND CAL 75. PAUL FINEBAUM SAYS OVER THE LONG RUN SOUTHERN CAL AND THE IRISH WILL BE THE BEST JUST LIKE ALWAYS. AND YOU KNOW WHAT. HE IS RIGHT !! 9. Baseball?

I recall after one exciting SC basketball season that I went to a Dodgers’ game and left after the second inning. Baseball is fun to play, but as a spectator sport it should be called Snoozeball

An LA Times writer had another perspective about this L.A. to the Big-10 move. He claimed this will put the stops to Oregon coming to southern California and poaching our best. Why play at Oregon when you can be at SC and take on Ohio St, Michigan or Penn St.

But as was the case with the NIL enactment, there will be some unforeseen consequences for SC and sucla having mooned the Pac-12

  11. John Canzano: Former Fox exec Bob Thompson estimates that Washington and Oregon would add only a additional combined $60 million annual revenue to a Fox Big Ten TV contract. The existing 14 members are expecting $71.4 million apiece with a new $1 billion contract and it’s estimated that USC and UCLA would add at least that much or more in additional revenue.

      1. Thompson also estimates the Pac12 would’ve gotten $500 million a year on their new TV contract after 2024 before USC/UCLA departure. Only $300 million with no USC/UCLA. USC goes from $34 mil currently and $42 mil in 2025 to $71 mil and possibly much more in 2024.
