The USC Friday Column Supplement

The 1965 football team at the rally before the UCLA game. Back when the whole team attended.

Here is the tower at VKC being constructed in 1965.

And look at all the open space on campus around VKC in 1965.

    1. Dear Ed:

This is not a pleasant topic, but presumably you are referring to footballers, and so the answer to your question of who will get brain damage and die early, is this:
      All of them.

Or to strain the meaning of the lyrics from “The House of the Rising Sun:”
“Oh mothers, tell your children, not to do what I have done”–
      (From playing college tackle football)

      2. Love The Animals version of House of the Rising Sun!

Sons of Anarchy used another version by The White Buffalo that was also very good, but a little shy of the original.

      3. Agreed —the first and best song the Animals did —although “Gotta Get Outta This Place” was pretty great too….

      4. I remember that song as a church song at scout camp in the sixties. Weird once I read the lyrics. And then visiting the NOLA area and asking where it was? Finally I am a terrible tourist my questions are nonsensical. This week in Boston: “Where was Paul Revere’s horse left after the ride?”Three more days and back to civilization.

      5. What happened to the horse? Paul musta been pretty hungry after riding all night long….. & there were no 24/7 McDonalds back then…..

    1. Not brain damaged, just educated under Governor Nudesome’s watch. Teddy Roosevelt wanted to change official spelling rules and that’s what Ed learnt.

    2. Freakin’ ridiculous, Charles!

As we’ve stated before, attack the right and you’re fine. Attack the left and you will have the Thought Police and everyone else including the DOJ coming after you! They’re going to keep pushing and pushing, until they’ve pushed too far.

  2. Ha, Got it, not a football blog, just old grumps who can’t realize that the times have passed them by. I’ll find a more relevant USC blog. Enjoy your bitter years.

You sound like a typical soulless Millenial, striving for artificial superiority, so Troy4Life, goodbye and good night. And may you one day open your eyes to God’s truth. But of course that is expecting too much out of the likes of you

      1. This is all a test, my friend. Of course I don’t know you in person, but the little I do know tells me you’ve done a decent job in the time God’s given you. That being said, I do believe that birds of a feather flock together and that your friends (along with Cal75 and Tirebiter) will have this to look forward to:

      3. It’s funny how many people keep bringing up Michelle’s name for 2024. They really don’t have any decent candidates. That’s why we ended up where we are now.

AOC turns 35 in October 2024, so she’s on many peoples’ short list. LOL

Yes, a great indication of how desperate they are.

    1. Only Charles digs up these tasty sports’ tidbits:

Well, I guess it was inevitable that collective bargaining would be the next move by college footballers. I don’t have a horse in this race so I will simply sit on the sidelines and see how it all plays out.

More importantly is how a couple of our buddies got sick recently, and we all felt it, albeit second hand. It just drives home the fact that health is everything. When you don’t got it you got nothing.
