USC had several players out with injuries today.
What’s interesting is some of them haven’t had a lot said about them during training camp.
For example, defensive tackle Earl Barquet, a transfer from TCU. Now maybe the injury is the reason and he’ll be fine by the season-opener but defensive line is a position of need so it’s not hard to make an impression.
Cornerback Josh Jackson was almost a starter a year ago but is also currently injured and it’s debatable what his role will be.
Some high-profile but unproven names — cornerback Domani Jackson, wide receiver Michael Jackson — are also out. Lincoln Riley said Domani Jackson could be back for the Rice game but he missed last year with a torn ACL at Mater Dei so who knows how far away he is right now.
Others out today included linebacker Chris Thompson, safety Briton Allen and wide receiver Kyle Ford.
I count 8. Injury list over 20 with CCH. Culture is changing.

wolf….we don’t particularly care who is out. We want to know who is “in” and how they are performing…… Did you crash your drone?

Now that is the real Ed. G talking; it’s hard to impersonate ol’ Ed
Yeah, I haven’t seen any injuries at Tennessee either, but then I haven’t read a single word about Tennessee except for Bru.

So many dog on injuries with this USC team, it reminds me of the Clay Helton era. Maybe Lincoln Riley should hire UCLA’s training staff, because they always stay healthy.

One possibility is that they are pushing themselves or being pushed and that may be alien to some of the old Helton boys. So far other than the tight end there hasn’t been anything major.

Scooter,
Since training camp is over, riley could run two days of full pads this week and then get them back in two days of full pads next week. The rest of the time just have them in shorts and shoulder pads. Let the bodies recoup. However, they have to stay in conditioning mode.

I would bet that now they are in game mode at practice, they probably have two days with full pads and one day of real contact. Friday is always a walk through, how to come out of the tunnel, where to sit on the bench, where the gator aide is, and other serious stuff.

Nice to see we now get injury updates. Helton didn’t give those much as it was usually half or better of the team.

The answer to all these injuries is depth. Ohio State has it. Alabama has it. Georgia has it. SC needs to get it. If their whole 1st and 2nd team goes down, Alabama will still beat most teams. That’s the kind of depth they have and that’s the kind of depth SC needs. The answer isn’t to tone down the practices. That’s what CH did. When Pete Carroll was coach the players used to say that the game was easy because the tuesday and wednesday practices were tougher than the game.

Even during the PC era injuries occurred in practice. During the CH era there were more injuries during games because it’s hard to get hurt in a pillow fight.
It’s part of the game. I used to think the practice field wasn’t well kept because of so many ankle and knee injuries, but I also said iron sharpens iron. We just have to expect injuries if we want practice at full speed.

Faux Ed gets off on the responses to his hurtful and disrespectful posts. Ghost, Michael, Cal, George etc. If we ignore him he will eventually go away. As my son said don’t feed the trolls.
All of his posts bear the same email address. Scott doesn’t moderate his site. (He doesn’t even have an edit feature) we have to do this ourselves

Faux Ed gets off on the responses to his hurtful and disrespectful posts, but then again, so do I. Ghost, Michael, Cal, George etc. If we ignore him he will eventually go away. As my son said don’t feed the troll as much as possible.
All of his posts bear the same email address I’m guessing, because I really don’t know shit.. But Scott does a great job at monitoring his site overall .👍🏼

LOTS OF INJURIES… AND JUST PLAYING/PRACTICING PADDYCAKE FALL PRACTICE. NO “TWO A DAY” ANYMORE THESE KIDS WOULDN’T MAKE IT OUT OF THE FIRST COUPLE OF DAYS IN MY JOHN MCKAY/MARV GOUX ERA.. I’M SURE THEY’RE NOT HAVING ANY FULL SPEED CONTACT DRILLS ANYMORE, BUT THEY SHOULD. UNLESS YOU WERE BIG TIME INJURED, YOU COULDN’T AFFORD TO MISS ANY PRACTICE OR YOU’D BE MOVED DOWN TO SECOND OR THIRD STRING AND HAVE TO ERAN YOUR WAY BACK TO A STARTING POSITION.
IN TODAY’S FOOTBALL, I’M REALLY SURPRIZED THAT THEY’RE NOT IN PERFECT PHYSICIAL CONDITION, TAPED UP FOR EVERY PRACTICE AND READY TO PLAY!!
I KNOW, TIMES HAVE CHANGED, BUT, BASIC PRE SEASON STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING. BEING FIT AND READY TO PUT A HIT ON SOMEONE OR TAKE A HIT FROM SOMEONE, GIVES YOU THE ABSOLUTE BEST CHANCE TO PLAY ON GAME DAY… NO EXCUSES BY ANY PLAYERS ARE ACCEPTABLE!!
