Lincoln Riley said this week he wants USC to control all NIL deals.
“The best thing we could ever do is try to get it under one roof,” he said.
It’s the company line and if Riley is the public face, athletic director Mike Bohn is the private face.
I’ve heard Bohn has contacted donors and tried to keep them from being involved in the booster-funded “Student Body Right” group that is competing with USC-approved BLVD Studios.
“He wants to keep everything through BLVD and doesn’t want anyone joining the other group,” a donor said Tuesday. “They want to control it. It’s confusing to some donors, who aren’t sure which way is the best way and are staying on the sidelines with their money.”
The battle also includes lobbying former players who might be inclined to support Student Body Right.
“It’s all about choosing sides,” the donor said. “USC always wants the money.”
- USC will do the Trojan Walk before Saturday’s game vs. Rice that was discontinued because of COVID-19. The Trojans will arrive in front of the Coliseum at 12:15 p.m. and make their way to the locker room.
