Morning Buzz: Pick The USC-Fresno State Score

Before you pick the score, did you notice the modication on the front of the USC helmets this season?

There is a small “V sign” sticker right in the front of the helmet.

It seems unnecessary when the whole point of the USC helmet is its “classic” look.

Now you have the Nike spelled-out decal, the V sign decal and the Nike logo decal.

How many Nike references do we need?

OK, now pick the score for tonight’s game.

      1. Yeah, I feel bad about hijacking the thing yesterday. But we got some good responses, including a whole discussion about light vs. heavier beers, morphing into everclear.

  5. I’ll stick with USC 48, Doggies 27.

    Potential for USC to go over 50 is def there. I think it was SteveG yesterday, or maybe Charles, who talked about USC offensive fireworks would force the dogs into passing, which will create opportunities for turnovers. Good call by those guys. And a good opportunity for the D to defend a top passing game.

      1. I wonder how many points OU would have hung on the baby bruins in 2019 if Riley hadn’t taken the first team offense out halfway through the second quarter when they were up 34-0.

        I think what happened then is that the Rose Bowl scoreboard operator sent a message to the Sooner bench, saying “We can’t post a score with 3 digits. Just so you know.”

      1. True! I remember when he got knocked out of a game and cut his nose. He returned wearing a bandaid a rallied the team for a win. The following week fans wore bandaids to the game. Those were the days.

  7. Nebraska getting destroyed by OU. That is going to be a tough rebuilding job. Many years since Huskers were relevant, and neither the university nor the town is going to be a big draw for recruiting.

What the LAUSD poster from yesterday should realize is that yes, the principal and admin are lousy, but the teacher’s union is as well, as they are not representing the best interests of the students. I suspect the majority of teachers are decent and hard-working, but the incentives within the organization are all wrong when good performance by faculty is not rewarded. The whole enterprise needs a total redo. That is what people don’t get, and the teacher’s unions are incredibly effective at making it appear that they are the good guys and gals.

      4. In 2021, teachers fighting mandates or advocating saner curriculums couldn’t depend on union support.
        I don’t what happens to the unions when the truth comes out on the effects of multiple boosters on young people’s hearts….
        I do know plaintiffs law firms are gearing up….

  17. Hey, Gabby right on with ND. We do need for at least everybody we beat win or be ranked when we play them. Committee looks at strength of schedule and we need that to improve, because the SEC is will, always trump everyone because of bias by the media and, Committee and that’s the way it is. That’s why we have to score 50 every week or show that our defense is among the elite teams by the defensive metrics. Rushing yards allowed per game and average yards per carry must get 110.00 yds per game n 2.5 – 3.0 per carry to have a legitimate chance of impressing CFP Committee. That’s what I see for us to be the 1st PAC12 team to actually have real shot in winning the NATTY. So Fi here we come? #WeAreUSC#FIGHT ON JESSIE

    2. You’re exactly right on the style points. Every time we can break 50, eyes will open up. The wider the eyes the better our resume will look.

      We do need ND to win out, but I take great pleasure when they struggle

      4. Cal robbed after call-reversal. Should’ve had 0:15 put back on the clock instead of 0:05. Ended with an incompletion in the end zone. Terrible officiating.

  23. 45-34 is the final score. USC will have flashes of brillance but also moments when it is obvious the team has alot of room for improvement, particularly on defense
