Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff continues to be in denial about the reaction to USC and UCLA moving to the Big Ten.
“I have yet to talk to anyone in the UCLA and USC community who is in favor of the move,” he said at Pac-12 basketball media day. “I will say that I probably hear from folks who are not in favor of it.”
Now there are certainly some coaches, athletes or fans against the move. But to say he hasn’t talked to anyone in favor of it? He must not get around much.
I doubt the basketball coaches are thrilled. But the USC community has plenty of others who are in favor of the move.
Much like Pro Sports, did anyone ever try to get any type of Revenue Sharing in place?By majority vote, there are more Have Nots in D1 than Haves. Or is that prohibited by the old Oklahoma-NCAA case that started schools to cut their own deals?

It’s clown behavior like this that put the changes in place. Stanford’s AD typifies the attitude. “You won’t go anywhere so give us your money.”

So far I have not put too much stock into the claims that the Pac-12 is trying to punish SC and UCLA for leaving the Pac-12 but maybe there is something to that…….especially if UCLA and SC were to finish 1 and 2 in the conference. Mr. KiavKoff certainly doesn’t want this to turn into a mass exodus from the Pac-12. All I know is that there were 3 really bad calls against USC in the Utah game. If anyone of those calls are not made, USC probably wins the game(especially the 2 roughing the passer penalties).

Parcelman — we shouldn’t be so naive as to think the Pac 12 isn’t completely determined to save it’s brand …which means it’s completely corrupt…

Pac-12…..completely corrupt? Yeah….why not? Just another institution that the dems have infiltrated. Yeah….I’m sure now….it’s corrupt.

More conspiracy theories. The refs didn’t throw the Utah game—that’s just typical Pac12 officiating! (And just another reason to bolt for the Big Ten.)

You could be right. I’m certainly not trying to be dogmatic on this issue but without some of those calls, SC wins the game.

Conspiracies are simply self-interest in action. All you need are one or two referees trying to throw the game to Utah. They just need to throw one or two penalties on key plays to throw a tight game.
In addition to the roughing calls, there was the PI call where the ball was nowhere close and the contact was minimal. There was also a holding call on the Raleek Brown call that I cant seem to find in replay footage. From what I recall it was borderline at best as a holding call. Once again, the calls always come on the key plays.
I dont say this is a conspiracy where all the refs get together and plot out the game, but I do say that some of the refs are going to try to throw games with penalties on key plays. And they cover it up with bad calls throughout the game.
Take a look at the Washington State game and the no fumble call right before the half. When you run it in slow motion the knee pivoted and clearly did not touch the ground and the ball was out before his back hit the ground. There is zero chance that a ref can watch that play and not run it a fumble. That was clearly a decision to screw USC.
The Pac-12 is in survival mode. Do you really think those refs are not doing their part to survive? USC or UCLA winning the Pac-12 would be a disaster for the Pac-12.

You have not convinced me at all. How does making USC or UCLA lose help to keep them in the PAC-12. That’s how the conference survives—by keeping them. And if I’m a ref and want to keep my job, the best way to do so is through excellence—not making bad calls that impact the game and bring attention to myself.

SC is going to have to hit the portal again to get experienced D-Linemen and LB’s. They have some talented people in the wings but not too many who have any experience.

$150,000 per dorm room for each new 5 star linemen should solve our problems…

So much has been said about the SC O line when in fact it was in better shape than the D line. It is obvious the pendulum for recruiting is starting to swing back toward USC and I think we will get some needed guys this December and February. Either LOI or portal. When USC goes B1G they should be ready.

The O-Line has been good but there is always room for improvement.

This O line has played pretty well.
Caleb needs to get rid of the ball more quickly on many plays.
This is the #2 rated offense in CFB (and has done well versus two highly rated defenses). Didn’t happen without good O line play.

As I have said in another blog (I know shocking) the only people opposed to the move are the game who go to every game (both of them) and Governor Neusance. Oregon State is happy they’ve already torn out half their stadium. Oregon is fine with it, now they can wear their rainbow uniforms without being embarrassed. Stanford is going independent so they can play Notre Dame every week.

Now wouldn’t that just be like SC to do that, MG, if only the real Trojans had been as equally crafty in their dealings with the Greeks back in the day

Why not? They tell us nowadays that a man can have a baby. Boy George probably thinks “if they’ll believe that, they’ll believe anything”.

LJ,
$30 mil alone will barely cover the salaries of coaches, and the atheltic adm. Extra $70 mil build a better dept if they can get rid half of the crap in there that they don’t need or want.

Other than travel, the move to the B1G is a good move at the right time for USC in FB and UCLA in MBB.
Two or three “mega” confererences is where this is going.
Having “marquis” games every Saturday is important NATIONALLY.
You gotta get 6 million (or more) viewers for your marquis matchup.
The Pac12 network has shown that regional CFB TV just won’t make it.
While I would have preferred 4 conferences of 16 teams each, with BYU and ND forced to join a conference, having 2 or 3 conferences with 20 teams is likely the trend. I think the ACC can add a few interesting schools. The SEC and B1G will be at 16 soon.
A west coast conference with the former Pac schools plus SDSU etc could work for West Coast people. Utah could become the “power” it aspires to be.
For USC it is all about the prestige of being in one of the big 2 conferences and developing NFL quality players. With good coaching and admin, the top California and Washington and Utah and AZ recruits will join USC (and UCLA)

Why wouldn’t USC or UCLA want higher attendance at all of their sporting events? Or more merchandise sales? Or higher commercial revenue opportunities? With the Big 10 its Chicago, New York and L. A. along with Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Detroit? Who wouldn’t want to have their name brand on USC or UCLA jerseys? What makes anyone think that Kliavkoff is upset for being punished for his vote to keep the status quo of only four teams in the CFP? This makes as much sense and Kanye West trying to act like a conservative fascist.
