Will Caleb Williams Play In Cotton Bowl?

Lincoln Riley said Caleb Williams suffered “a significant hamstring injury” and said USC would monitor his progress before the Cotton Bowl.

The official line is USC will determine if he can play. But Williams flexed his power in the Pac-12 title game by refusing to come out of the game when he was less than 50 percent. So we’ll see.

There isn’t much point playing Williams if he is not fully recovered or can aggravate the injury.

At the very least, Miller Moss will get a lot of bowl-practice experience.

  1. There losing a lot when they lose the QB and the center(who is the QB of the offensive line). But if everyone else plays, I have a lot of confidence in Miller Moss. I think that he is a really a good QB and is itching to get a chance to show what he can do. Miller Moss might surprise a lot of people

    1. Moss I believe makes his reads faster than Caleb, is very accurate, but does not have the same mobility. So he could do well replacing CW and in so doing establish himself enough Riley would not hesitate using him, or establish himself enough to go into the portal.

      1. Not too many people are as mobile as Caleb but I wouldn’t say that Moss is immoble. We’re not talking about John David Booty

  2. I don’t see how Williams plays. If he heard a “pop” when he went down, it’s bad.

    From College Football News:

“I don’t like picking games like this assuming the worst, USC might have a tough mix of lost parts, a team that can’t tackle even with everyone there, and a demoralized team overall. Tulane will come in jacked up for the big stage. Even so. the Trojans will wake up late just in time to lose close.”

  3. WHY RISK CALEB FOR A MEANINGLESS BOWL GAME.. USE MOSS.HE NEEDS THE GAME TIME EXPERIENCE. BTW. THE DEFENSE WAS EXCEPTIONALLY PITIFUL. TRANSFER THESE HELTON LEFTOVERS, AND GET SOME SERIOUS DEFENSIVE PLAYERS AND OFFENSIVE LINEMEN. ALSO, CONSIDER FIRING YOUR DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. MAYBE THE WHOLE DEFENSIVE STAFF. THEY DON’T GET IT. DEFENSE WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. TAKE IT FROM AN EX USC LINEBACKER…

      1. As long a Caleb was hurt, SC still would have lost! SC’s defense stinked all year!
They made Utah’s RB and TE look like first round NFL picks….

  4. This obsession with Miller moss is disturbing. I wouldn’t put Keldon Slovis behind this line. Who will protect and block in the bowl game? If Williams is afraid of Moss and is forcing him to transfer them shut that nonsense down and tell Williams he gets one half or one bad hit and it’s Miller time after that. Let them both know ahead of time. Who cares of they win or lose? It’s all about the transfers.
