What About Donte Williams And UNLV?

I’ve yet to hear anything substantial regarding Donte Williams and UNLV.

I’m told that UNLV wants someone with head-coaching experience and that interim stint last year didn’t qualify. Stay turned.

There was a report today that Chris Petersen was a frontrunner but he is not interested. He could do way better than UNLV. Ed Orgeron is also not interested.

  • As expected, Caleb Williams will be going to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. The other finalists are Stetson Bennett (Georgia), Max Duggan (TCU) and C.J. Stroud (Ohio State).

    1. The odds are what they are b/c him clearly being the best player in college football for quite some time. Thats why I’ve been saying “when he wins” the Heisman instead of “if.”

      Off the top of my head, he’ll be the second player to win it after just one season at their respective schools.

  2. All three of those other guys are good candidate but none of them are in the same universe as Caleb. If all 4 of them were on the SC team, none of them would beat out Caleb.

  4. Maybe the Blogger can post them later but Caleb has the better individual stats.

    He’s got more yds. passing this year, is tied with one of the finalists for most TD passes and has the most total yards. The others are in the 3,000+ yds. passing but Caleb is the only one who threw for 4,000+.

    Caleb had the best individual season this year.

    1. All true, marvienna. No question Caleb deserves it. And no else really comes close. [But] this year you need to factor in a surprising degree of anti-USC bias. As I glanced thru the comments on sectional sports sites I found a lot of haters.

      1. There has always been USC haters yet SC has 7 Heisman winners. I predict Caleb will win but I understand that in this world there is very little that you can be dogmatic about.

  5. All you have on that Heisman list are QB’s. Caleb is easily the best QB in the country. Stetson Bennet is a really good QB but not nearly in the same class as Caleb. I doubt that Bennet will make it in the pros. Barring an injury, Caleb will be a star in the pros. You should not pick a player for the Heisman just because he is on the best team(and we don’t even know that yet).

    1. Gee 007, I remember the bozo rah-rah’s saying the same thing about the piglet; the guy has been a total NFL bust. There’s no doubt the piglet has made big bucks impersonating a competent NFL QB.

      Thing is, Williams’ escape ability will suffer in the NFL where the down-linemen and linebackers are x-times faster than SUCC’s opponents.

      2. I don’t know Owns….Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Russel Wilson, Daniel Jones, Kyler Murray, Lamar, Jackson and Justin Fields all seem to be doing fine with their legs as well as their arms in the pros.

  6. I’m going to die laughing if Chris Peterson gets the Stanford job and hires Donte Williams away from you clueless coaches. They played multiple coverages against Cam Rising and kept the game closer than it should have been. It was the Oklahoma transfer who screwed up that tackle on 3rd and 19 that went for a score. Ask yourself why Goforth is leaving? Because he’s getting paid better somewhere else.

  7. There’s another reason why I think that Caleb will win the Heisman. C.J. Stroud is not in the same universe with Caleb. He won’t be picked over Caleb Williams. Stetson Bennett and Max Duggan are white. They will not be picked over a black man. I know that sounds racist but I’m not a racist. I just think that’s the way things are. That’s the reason why Christian MacCaffrey never won it in the 2 great seasons he had at Stanford.

      1. I’m not a racist according to my definition of the term “racist” and that’s all I care about….my definition. I can’t get too worried about other peoples definition of the term racist because there are a lot of people out there today who call anyone who disagrees with them a racist. Math has been called racist. Some people can characterize a head of lettuce as racist.
        I’m not a racist. I have black friends, white friends, asian friends, polynesian friends and hispanic friends(I am hispanic). In today’s world, you must tune out all these name callers.       I think MacCaffery did not win because there is a bias for west coast players to win the heisman. I think most of the voting is done on the east coast so they are not aware of how good the players are out here. That is my opinion.

      1. He got picked in the first round because the NFL is a business. Each team must bring in the best people if they are going to make money. The people who pick the Heisman winners have no such restraints. They can;’t pick anyone according to their bias’s. In the last 21 years, the Pac-12 has had 4 Heisman winners. The Big-12 has had 5. The Big-10 only 2. The ACC only 1. Only the SEC has had a lot more. I don’t see any “distinct bias” there. Incidently, ass is spelt ASS, not “as”. Do yourself a favor and don’t enter any spelling bee’s in the near future. You’ll get your ASS kicked.

Ass if you’d notice, it’s unfortunate that I must remind you what Samuel Clements once said about statics and damned lies. McCaffrey lost in 2015 to a running back from Alabama who led his school to the national championship playoffs – Big ASS Derrick Henry. He then lost the 2016 Heisman (and came behind another running back in voting) to a quarterback who had better rushing titles and tougher schedule – Lamar Jackson. Funny thing is, McCaffrey didn’t win the vote in either season for the six regional voting areas. His teammate came second the following year in 2017. Explain that dumbass.
