Where will five-star defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei of St. John Bosco sign?

The finalists are USC, Oregon and Ohio State. The Trojans have been considered the favorite but some recruiting experts are now predicting Uiagalelei will choose the Ducks.

And if that’s not surprising enough, some believe his brother, DJ, will transfer to Hawaii.

USC is also waiting for five-star tight end Duce Robinson of Phoenix to announce although he might wait.

  • JT Daniels has committed to Rice, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.

What is the career trajectory here?

It’s smart to go somewhere you will play and I assume Daniels will start at Rice. But it’s also true Rice is the least-attractive school from a football standpoint that Daniels will play at in his career.

Daniels would open the 2023 season at Texas, the third time and third different school he has played for at Texas. He played at Texas in 2018 for USC.

    2. Where’s the five star linemen 😂. ??? This is definitely Clay Helton type recruiting, Lincoln Riley still doesn’t get it after failing in the playoffs at Oklahoma. And of course, Fanboys making noise about skill players that produce nothing but entertainment, not championships. 😂

  2. Scott Schrader is saying that Mateo will come to SC. Steve Wiltfong is predicting Oregon. Between Wiltfong and Schrader, Wiltfong is more well known but Schrader is more local and on the scene. I guess it depends upon who has the best sources.

      3. Being realistic, things are happening today that will make life harder on Caleb next season….unless our o-line improves significantly.
        Question: We seem to be doing okay getting linebackers [meaning players want to get coached up by Odom] but we aren’t getting the guys we need on the line. That means we need to take a long look at our line coach.

      4. Did you ever think that if Caleb had a great Oline, where the protection never broke down, he might not be as dynamic a player? How many amazing plays came from him scrambling for his life? Just a thought.

    2. There is too much angst to me per the grabs made by OR versus USC’s.

      This is Lanning’s first crack as a head coach which is a bit puzzling as to why a current active known head coach wasn’t hired. In addition, wasn’t it reported the last part of the season of disgruntled players @ OR under Lanning? The play calling cost them two losses against WA and OR St.? This is why I’m skeptical OR does any better than playing in the Holiday Bowl against Mack Brown’s NC Tarheels a mere week from today 28th December.

      Lanning maybe the Pac12 equivalent of Jimbo Fisher and his current stint @ TX A&M…..

  3. hope he is better than his brother at clemson, another over rated 5 star;clemson finally moves on… daniels will do well at Rice…they have good coaching now…not that will beat Texas,which is having a very excellent recruiting year. SC will sign good BIG guys up front ‘o’,and get some good BIG GUYS FOR THE ‘d’ LINE, PORTAL RULES…

    1. It’s pretty clear by looking at the ESPN 300 who signed and who’s committed so far Usc is not getting any of the top lineman. I think for next season they should focus on developed players because with Caleb they have a big chance of winning a national championship and any players, they can plug-in and play right now would be the best solution but as far as the future goes, they really do need to start recruiting high school players better

  10. Regarding the constant talk of when are we going to get 5 star offensive line recruits. I looked at the top 100 list on ESPN and there are only 3 5 stars on the list. And only 10 ten more (4 stars) in the top 100. It seems the issue is more supply and demand. Yet complaints are made about 3 star signings. All we read at the beginning of the year was that our offensive line was weak. Seems to me we finished pretty strong on the offensive line.
