  • The start of the State Farm commercial with Mark Cuban was filmed outside the Galen Center.
  • Jack Nicholson celebrates his 86th birthday today. Here’s his memorable acceptance speech after winning a BAFTA award for “Chinatown” from the set of “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest” in 1975.

  1. Scott, you know I am your #1 fan. But 47,227 is a lie unless you had boots on the ground. Just like you claim USC embellishes attendance numbers

      1. Fake Gabby, love the way he calls you a coward for posting as him. But when he posts as me, it doesn’t make him a coward at all. He’ll make excuses for his unstable behavior and hypocrisy.

His life is so empty and miserable, he wishes he were me. Can’t blame him.

Now for a juvenile copy & paste of my post…

      1. Speaking of actors/Hollyweird…

Headed out to visit the new Amoeba store. We hadn’t been there, since they sold the old property and moved. On our drive in we heard it was National Record Store Day! We figured we might encounter a more crowded situation than expected. The line went for more than 2 blocks. Had to be a 1-2 hour wait to get in. No thanks. (But we’re thrilled they’re doing so well. Nothing like an old fashioned record store.)

Figured we’d go to Versailles for their famous (Cuban) garlic chicken! Made it all worthwhile.

  3. Colorado’s numbers for the 2024 spring game will look a lot like the 2022 numbers…..

      1. Might be able to win if you take Ed or Missus Ed as your running mate.

      2. Speaking of Record Stores — I’ll always remember the very cultured guy running the Classical Music Department of Rasputin Records in Berkeley telling me not to be embarrassed that I couldn’t pronounce Helene Grimaud’s name when I asked if they carried her Brahms’ Concertos [and then –after telling me they didn’t —- drawing a detailed map for me showing how to get to a store that did have it].
–As for Presidential candidates, I just watched Robert Kennedy being interviewed by that little prick Neil Cavuto. After telling Cavuto that the media is made up of sock puppets, Cavuto asked him if he worries that he’ll end up assassinated like his Dad or Uncle. Kennedy told him he was more scared for the country than his life. It was a great answer…and I think he just won by vote.

      3. I watched the same interview this morning. RFK doesn’t sound good, but that was a great answer. Love his stances on vaccine mandates, excessive spending including prolonged support of Ukraine and censorship. If he wants to secure our border and not trample on the Constitution, especially 2A, he’d have my vote, too.

      4. So Cal — In a weird way Kennedy’s vocal cord problem may wind up helping him — it’s obvious he’s got medical issues & he’s not letting them hold him back…

Yeah, the gentleman at the record store was a real rarity…. I actually remember his kindness sometimes when I’m in a position to help somebody out and need to make an extra effort….

  4. Colorado’s attendance was better than USC’s attendance. I’m glad that Coach Prime has that community excited. It’s good for all of us that they’re competitive.

But they appear to be kinda small though.

    1. Marlon Brando mighta been a bad influence on Jack —after “Missouri Breaks” it seems like he preferred playing Brandoesque psychos …..

      1. MG, not the better movie, but what was the better Brando performance … Godfather or Last Tango in Paris? Very disturbing movie, but I’ll go with the latter.

  5. Hiring Deion a bold move by Colorado. Carol Folt and Mike Bohn sat around on their asses for two years before sacking Helton. Of course, Colorado AD George should’ve been fired in the first place for hiring Dorrell.

    1. Just who were they supposed to hire with that contract courtesy of Lyn Swann and no one else ready and able to jump save, what we did escape, Urban Meyer?
As to Nicholson he’s ‘the ugly fly in the ointment’ in ‘The Departed’. He ruined that film with the same idiocy in ‘The Missouri Breaks’.

      1. Thanks for commenting. Frank and Hot Lips can go to Hell. Jack Nicholson made every movie he was in better than it would’ve been otherwise.
