USC Saturday Buzz: Another Thing That Needs To Get Done

If we need another example of how Mike Bohn shirked job duties, here’s one that bugged me throughout his tenure.

USC has not inducted a Hall of Fame class since 2018. Bohn clearly had no interest in the matter as he did nothing while athletic director.

I asked a USC official back in 2021 about the Hall of Fame and got the usual excuses: “Mike was busy with COVID issues, football problems, etc.”

It really wasn’t a valid alibi because the athletic director doesn’t do much with the Hall of Fame class, he just makes sure there is one. He could have told Mini-Me Sosna to take care of it.

Why does it matter? Because it’s important to honor some of these Trojan greats before they pass away. For example, offensive lineman Marvin Powell died in 2022. He is in the College Football Hall of Fame but not the USC Hall of Fame. That didn’t get fixed in time. Powell is No. 76 in the above picture of the Playboy All-American team.

USC has had a Hall of Fame class every 2 years between 1995-2012. Things slowed down under Pat Haden/Lynn Swann, who did it every 3 years.

Bohn? Nothing for 4 years. He probably couldn’t be bothered to show up for a meeting to discuss it. I have more confidence interim athletic director Denise Kwok will do something before Bohn would if she has the authority.

  • Arizona, which got into the NCAA Tournament instead of USC, lost to TCU, 12-4, in its first-round game Friday night.

  2. I still can’t see where Bohn did anything to be fired. SC isn’t really telling us what the problem was. All I hear is that he ran a hostile workplace. I worked 36 years in a hostile workplace. Did the corporation that I worked for ever do anything about it? Sometimes. What they did is that they would call the manager into a higher managers office and the higher manager would say “hey joe, you are getting too many complaints from your subordinates….tone it down a little will you?” But they didn’t fire them.
    As far as the SC baseball team is concerned, SC finished 4th in the Pac-12, Arizona finished 8th. SC was 17-13 in league while Arizona finished 12-18. ASU and Ortegon finished 5th and 6th in league. SC got hosed.

  5. Kwok ? She’s in charge of DEI, just another WOKETARD fuck a doodle earning a fat paycheck, she has no interest in USC athletics other than to make football far less important to the school, as is rumored that many of the intellectual eggheads at USC want to do.

    It’ll be interesting to see if Riley gets what he wants, if not, he’ll bail and you’ll know where the administration stands as to the importance of the football team to the school.

        He is being paid a salary comparable to the NFL, 10 million plus. Lives in a beautiful home overlooking the Pacific ocean. His wife seems to be happy with the LA lifestyle and Reilly seems motivated to bring USC back and to dominate college football. Why go to the NFL where college coaches usually fail. There is a reason Pete called the NFL the “No Fun League.”

    2. Mike White recruited/coached Steve Bartkowski, Joe Roth, Chuck Muncie, Wesley Walker, Rich Campbell et al. Like Jeff Tedford, some really good talent just not enough. Pac 8 co-champions in 1975 which is the high-water mark since the 1958 Rose Bowl.

    I went to the LA Archdiocese priest ordination today. It was awesome. We got 8 new priests. I made a bet with two ladies on what time it would start and how long it would last. I lost on what time it started but I won on how long it would last. The bet was two Hail Mary’s for the others. I paid my debt.
