More Observations On USC

A few more observations on USC via a Pac-12 coach:

“If you are scouting them, they have good running backs but don’t commit to the run.”

“No. 7 (Calen Bullock) is pretty good but I don’t know how they use him.”

Bear Alexander is a helluva player when he wants to be.”

“You’re not going to win a national championship with that offensive line.”

  1. All four of those comments are about effort and how players are set up for success by the coaches. They have the player talent. They just arent creating a culture where players are motivated to play hard on every play.

I think the team is soft in attitude and probably getting a little tired of having coaches put them in a position to fail.

This d-line should have the ability to blow up opposing offensive lines. Why has production fallen off? Why is Anthony Lucas not turning in great performances? Why doesnt Bear have the stats to match his abilities?

      1. Only the likes of you would find a negative with this article–
The guy goes 24-7 and gets a few days off now and then
Like anybody else he values the fond memories and laughs
But he sounds ‘all-in’ with his profession

      2. Sparrow – On this one I agree with BuddaKarma.

Head football coaches have to be completely different people to succeed. They have to be intense and 100% committed to the point of insanity. Riley’s natural personality is a bit of a detriment. He doesnt get fiery and probably isnt really motivational. He might be too quiet and just focused on the X’s and O’s, instead of being a leader.

If you start to think you want to live your life for more than football, you just shouldnt be a head football coach at a major Power 5 football team. The job is 24/7 365 days a year. How do you recruit the best players unless you show them as much attention as the other head football coaches?

Doesnt make him a bad person and he isnt a slacker, but you have to wonder if Riley is going up against Lanning at Oregon for talent and on-field performance, which one will get the edge for his team? I would bet on Lanning, based solely on his attitude/commitment/intensity.

I’m sure I would rather be Riley’s friend, but that is not what we are talking about here.

    1. Quit making excuses for that piece of shit Lincoln Riley, he doesn’t want to be at USC.

He’s inquiring about jobs in the NFL, it’s been reported on most of the Fox sports and ESPN talk shows.

Let the motherfucker leave, fuck him!

He’s a sorry ass fraud, him and his boyfriend Alex Grinch

That motherfucker doesn’t want to coach at USC, what part of that don’t you fucking fanboys understand?

It ‘regressed’ at ND; time to show at least a little ‘progress’

Just to be clear, Charlie Bucket the Bruin aka Cowardly Gabby/Tebow Obama needs treatment for her paranoid schizophrenia condition. It is a fairly common (and can be severe) mental illness: about 0.32% of the population suffers from it. [Let’s see. There were 331 million Americans in the 2020 Census. I don’t believe they diagnose it (for sure) until one’s late teenage years, so let’s apply it to those Americans and Traitors like Charlie Bucket the Bruin aka Cowardly Gabby/Tebow Obama 18 and over. Google says that 258 million Americans are 18 years old & older: 258 million x 0.0032 = 825,600 people adults who suffer from paranoid schizophrenia, just like Charlie Bucket the Bruin aka Cowardly Gabby/Tebow Obama

What is Gabby posting as grabbbyy, one of 20 or more phony usernames, talking about? Perhaps it is time for another 72 hour hold.

Is that too much to ask, Lord? Did we do something wrong? Is having her on the blog some sort of penance?

Obsess: preoccupy or fill the mind of (someone) continually, intrusively, and to a troubling extent.

Stalk: 1. pursue or approach stealthily. 2. harass or persecute (someone) with unwanted and obsessive attention.

Take your own advice, you sound like a hypocrite; “but several people have suggested So Cal seek psychiatric help!! He is in some serious denial.”

You live in a Bizarro World where your every humiliation like tonight’s rout is spun into a victory. Plow Horse called your bluff and you chickened out. Now everyone here knows you are The Coward of the County.

  4. SC always has a chance against anyone when their offense is playing like it should play. But a lot of that depends upon the O-Line. SC should have beat ND. I don’t think ND is that good. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost to Pittsburg. The reason SC lost that game was because of their O-Line. They could be a great team this year if they fix their O-Line and their defense. I’m not letting the defense off of the hook. They looked good against ND but ND has a poor offense. They might even look good next week against Utah. They also have a poor offense. But I think that they are going to get torched against Oregon and Washington and maybe even UCLA.

    1. From the beginning of the year, when the defense looked bad, I thought they might have a formula to win by just being an unstoppable offense, but I was always worried about the o-line. And it turns out to be the one problem Caleb couldnt overcome.

  8. Jarrett Kingston is a 5th year senior who was all PAC12. Pregnon was one of the most sought after lineman in the portal. A bulldozer. It seems that neither one can now block. How does that happen? Henson keeps talking about consistency and technique in his interviews and then adds that both are close. I don’t get it. Did they forget how to block? We should have a solid o line.

  9. After watching the Oregon-Washington game, and then the catastrophe in South Bend… I’m guessing USC may win 2 more games (hopefully Cal and SUCLA). The O-Line is unimpressive, the Wide Receivers aren’t open, the D backs don’t cover. The D coaches can’t…. No improvements over last year…sigh

    1. They need a better short passing game. You throw short especially when the defensive front is coming at the QB with 5 or 6 guys. That cuts down on the defensive rush and it also brings the D-Backs up to help on those short passes. That opens up the field for the deep passes.

  11. Mar Shawn Lloyd has the highest average yds per carry in the country. How is the offensive line bad then? It’s just a question of Lincoln being more committed to the run and defenses becoming more honest in respecting the run and not teeing off. Pretty simple concept. That’s why I have a problem with Lincoln’s strategy. Hope they get back to that.
