Happy New Year!

I’ve been trying to locate this picture for a long time and finally found it this week, which is perfect timing because it seems very appropriate to the festive atmosphere of New Year’s Eve.

It’s USC tailbacks Jon Arnett and C.R. Roberts celebrating in the Coliseum locker room after the Trojans upset No. 5-ranked Notre Dame, 42-20, before 94,892 in 1955.

The victory silenced critics of Coach Jess Hill, who was under fire as the Trojans were 5-4 entering the contest. USC led 21-20 in the fourth quarter before reeling off 21 straight points.

Notre Dame QB Paul Hornung passed for 259 yards and rushed for 97. But he also threw five interceptions. Roberts rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown. Arnett rushed for 62 yards and caught a 65-yard touchdown pass. Ron Brown rushed for 78 yards.

Former Notre Dame coach Frank Leahy attended the game and said this afterward:

“It seems to me that Southern California had an entire season in one afternoon. After seeing them play today it is difficult to realize they’ve been beaten so often this season.”

  1. Hey blog members, I want to bring your attention to what I just caught Scott Wolf doing. I will try to explain so everyone understands.

Some of you may have noticed most of the “usernames” appear in black letters and a few appear in red letters. Here’s the difference, the red color is a live link that when clicked on takes you to a web page that’s unique to that username.

It may appear as an example of a WordPress page, or could be your actual site that you own and pay for where you can edit information about yourself or your site so readers know where you are coming from. You can create as many pages like this one or sub-pages as you like and manage all of your content inside of WordPress.

The following was a post made under the blog enter:” In Memoriam: Dave Levy”

    JANUARY 1, 2024 AT 3:22 AM
(the reply contained an embedded video from YouTube of a white Rhino defecating)

Here’s the issue, when you click on the username it takes you to “Inside USC”. The person who posted the video is the owner of “Inside USC” which we all know is Scott Wolf. He does a write-up in memory of this person then basically shits on him. This action is despicable and disgusting.

    What are your thoughts?,

      1. Sorry you feel that way. It’s like when you post over and over about how stupid people were for voting for biden.

perhaps you should avoid reading my comments.

        Have a good day!

    1. I agree the post came from “Inside USC”, though I don’t see Wolf as the guy who did this; looks like “Inside USC” got hacked. Just another reason why Scottie should upgrade his website.

    2. Agree with Gabby. Posting under someone else’s username is a “despicable and disgusting” action. I have had similar things done to me on this blog on several occasions. It is truly a chickenshit act and anyone who has ever engaged in such an act should be permanently banned from this blog. Hope you agree Gabby. And posting videos of large animals defecating is just sick. You would have to be mentally ill to do such a thing and this constitutes another reason for permanently banning a blogger.

      1. Basically, what you are saying is Scott should ban himself which would lead to this blog dissolving.

I wouldn’t be able to stroke your ego with complimentary comments anymore!

Happy New Year……tell the family Gabby said hello!

      2. Yeah Gabby, it was Scott who posted under 15 to 20 different aliases, attacked bloggers’ wives, and posted disgusting video clips. Was he also the guy who said “Let’s meet up.”

  2. Scott Wolf has one predominant writing style, and I don’t see him wavering from it very often. Scott is a lot of things but imitating other Posters is not part of his repertoire

Funny how I woke up this first day of 2024 and didn’t feel any different from yesterday in 2023, but Happy New Year just the same

    1. Yeah, I don’t see it, Gabby. The last thing on earth Scott would do is taint a Levy post.
One of our many other ‘bad boys’ pulled the rhino thing off.

  3. Sporting games are fun because you often do not know what you will get i.e. Heisman trophy winner Paul Hornung throwing 5 picks.

And today I would not be surprised to see any of the Final-4 teams win

Thank you—-I can never see that Happy Days moment enough! Everything about it —the music, the stock shark footage, cutting back and forth between the stunt guy and Winkler — is golden.

  6. Hey PT…. I am watching the Rose Parade and was thinking of you. Do you ever make it to the parade? The floats are amazing along with their back story on how they were built and what each one represents. My niece and nephew who used to live in Monrovia and would volunteer to help decorate the floats.

Happy New Year, you old fart!

    1. Gabby,
I am jaded on the parade and I should not be. My dad used to go down Hill St. and park around colorado and get there about 15 minutes before it started passing by. I have been twice. It is easier to watch it on tv. Pasadena is a disator in the morning here. I stay away from the parade route becuase of the waves and wavees of people and cars. I do like seeing the Marine band and when SC shows up.

  9. – Still my favorite Rose Bowl game was SC-Ohio St on Jan 1, 1975,
that 1974 team had just demolished ND 55-24 and was playing for the National Championship but losing 17-10 late in the game when
a lightning bolt struck as Haden to McKay Junior and then Haden to Diggs as he dug it out for the 2-pointer and improbable 18-17 win

      1. For McKay it was like the football gods granted him a do-over for the failed 2 pointer in an earlier Rose Bowl [was it against Purdue}?
