USC Morning Buzz: Welcome To The Big Ten

It’s 2024, the year USC officially competes in the Big Ten.

So look at this video as it scans the crowd from yesterday’s Michigan rally at the Galen Center. It looks like roughly 6,000 fans attended. Maybe more.

Do you think USC could draw 6,000 to a rally on the other side of the country? Do you think USC could draw 6,000 to a rally at the Galen Center?

It’s going to be a different world in the Big Ten.

  1. I’m looking forward to this year as a Trojan. No more Celeb to screw up the team mentally and strategically. Moving on with Moss, or another QB who is willing to operate within the offense Riley has created, along with a disciplined defense that can tackle.

My #1 wish for this team is that they make Taylor Mays a full time on-field coach. The part of the defense that was better in the Holiday Bowl was the secondary and that was Taylor coaching them up. We have an experienced coach overseeing the whole secondary, Taylor can coach under him.

Riley says he wants guys who want to be at USC, how about putting those words into action by hiring an ex-USC football player as a coach?

      1. USC needs to file suit preventing Cam Ward from entering the NFL Draft…. on the basis of “USC has Right To First Refusal” …..

    1. My…..My……… looks like Caleb has dropped from the good graces of the fans and media who built the pedestal he sat on.

Caleb became the instant scapegoat for some of you. I will always remember him for the greatness he brought to a team that has been swimming in mediocrity for many years. He brought me many feel-good moments.

Good luck, Caleb……I will always be a fan!

      1. Was Caleb responsible for giving up 42 or more points in 6 of the losses or 32 or more in the other two losses? It’s really clear where the problem was with this team. DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Football is a team sport and counting on one player to carry the program game after game is not a reasonable expectation!

      2. I take it you don’t believe the story of Caleb berating a financially strapped receiver with the words, “I don’t throw to poor people!”……

      4. btw, Friendly [truly] advice to Gabby: Hold off a year before announcing you will “always be a Caleb Fan” —– things could get ugly depending on multiple factors……

      5. I am not sure what you’re alluding to, details. If Caleb has character issues that’s on him. It doesn’t diminish what he did between the goalposts. If you think he packed it that’s a debatable opinion.

      6. Michael Guarino who was this “financially strapped receiver” you speak of? I never heard of this incident. Details?

  2. LR want…. We want a HC who wants to be at SC. One who will honor our traditions: open practices, solid recruiting and development, NCs…. PC would be the example that LR isn’t. Who wants a Caleb who is all about himself and failed to live up to the expectations. He didn’t even live on campus, not a Trojan on any respect.

    1. Oh, so now there’s something wrong with living in a 40 room Santa Monica mansion with Carol?!

      1. Obviously I was referring to Caleb when mentioning that be didn’t live on campus. Coaches usually live off campus as they aren’t students. Caleb was supposedly a student. Got the difference?

Scott, Scott, Scott. It’s 40 degrees warmer in LA/Pasadena than it is in Ann Arbor today. Of course they didn’t mind visiting for a few days!

    Silly comparison.

      1. Riding to work when it’s 40-42 degrees at 80-90 mph is “season” enough for me. I love it!!

If it’s pouring rain when I leave or greater than 50% chance that day, I drive. But if not, I ride no matter how cold it is.

Forget about living where it snows! No, thank you!!

  4. Scooter,

And others, how would you feel if Caleb Williams said he wanted to return to SC? I would have mixed emotions. Since he did not play in the bowl game, to me it seems he has moved on and so have I. I got to ask, if he does return, how can he help the team improve? Moss impressed me and there was no drama from him. After thinking about it, I think it is time for Caleb to move on. My opinion.

  5. Great Rose Bowl happy that MI prevailed but AL gave all they had. The final play by AL was weird….a bad snap but then a desultory run up the middle by QB Milroe….nothing fancy not even intriguing but the outcome is all that matters.

Let’s play in this series next year! Fight on!

    1. LIKED?…. Let’s play in this series next year! Fight on.

YES!. We get the expanded playoff format that should have been in place years ago. It finally made sense to the powers that be because of the massive profits it could generate. The big power brokers (networks) said lets do it

  6. ’56 SC was limited by PCC as to how many games certain seniors could play incl CR Roberts, Jon Arnett…I think it was first 5 games,or last 5 games. SC alums at the major hollywood studios gave SC players summer jobs…somebody decided it was a breaking of the rules.
I don’t remember Jess Hill being on the hot seat, he did become the AD in’57.

    1. Hill stepped down from his football post to become USC’s athletic director from 1957 to 1972, during which period the university won 29 team national championships: eight tennis titles (1958, 1962–64, 1966–69) under coach George Toley; six College World Series titles (1958, 1961, 1963, 1968, 1970–71) under coach Rod Dedeaux; six track titles (1958, 1961, 1963, 1965, 1967–68) under coaches Jess Mortensen and Vern Wolfe; five swimming titles (1960, 1963–66) under coach Peter Daland; two football titles (1962, 1967) under coach John McKay; one indoor track title (1967) under coach Vern Wolfe; and one gymnastics title (1962) under coach Jack Beckner. Hill then became commissioner of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association, retiring in 1978

  7. Scotty, if you hate USC so much why don’t you just get in the transfer portal. Whatever you decide to do please get your head out of your tailpipe.
