USC Won’t Miss Caleb Williams?

There’s a delusional part of the USC fan base that thinks USC won’t miss Caleb Williams especially after watching the offense in the Holiday Bowl.

Well, here’s a stat from NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler: Williams did not throw an interception at USC in 199 pass attempts on third-and-fourth down.

That’s quite an accomplishment when you consider how bad USC’s offensive line has been.

Is any QB at USC going to duplicate that feat in the next 5 years?

  1. The nicest thing about the Holiday Bowl wasn’t Miller Moss playing better than Caleb Williams [although he probably did] —it was the TEAM playing better than they did under Williams…..

  2. Caleb’s talent, especially his scrambling ability, will be missed. But, lack of interceptions is not the best metric to measure quarterback effectiveness. Sometimes the quarterback has to be willing to throw the ball into tight pockets between defenders. Caleb seemed reluctant to do this. He held onto the ball way too long. Moss threw a touchdown to Hudson Ware at the goal line when two defenders were near Ware but Moss trusted his ability to make a play. No way Caleb makes that throw. Cody Kessler also threw very few interceptions but I’ll take Sam Darnold over him, not even close.

      1. Yeah, I think he was concerned about his completion percentage because he wouldn’t even throw the ball away.
