USC Notes: Bear Alexander Reverses Course

Defensive tackle Bear Alexander said today he is staying at USC.

“I’m not crystal clear on all of the noise or what any of this portal mess is about … I’m here to finish what I started and that’s chasing a natty here at USC with my teammates.”

The “portal mess” as he calls it, even though the coaching staff confirmed to ESPN they knew he was expected to enter the transfer portal.

REACTION: Is this good for USC? Yes. Does this sound like someone focused, mature and ready for a breakout season? Well . . .

Nothing he does will surprise me: Leaving. Staying. Playing well. Playing inconsistent. It’s all part of the package.

  • Isaiah Collier announced he will enter the NBA Draft to no one’s surprise. He finished his lone season averaging 16.3 points, 4.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds.
  • Clark Slajchert, a transfer from Penn and graduate of Oak Park High School, committed to USC. The 6-1 guard averaged 18 points and shot 42 percent on 3-pointers. Maybe he can be the next Kayla Padilla.

      1. Cowardly Gabby aka TebowObama aka Charlie Bucket the Bruin Fan The Guy who posts as So Cal’s Wife & LawyerJohn & Pudly & Plow Horse & steveg49 & DOJ & Scott Wolf and Frank Young just got off work at the Good Will store on 6th Street. She is as predictable as a Senile Joe press confereence.

      2. Grabby –PLEASE play the whole clip [the part where Jill comes on stage and whispers, “Honey…I think the critics are right…. you’re WAY too fucking dumb to be president…”]

      3. Grabbbyy, every time something such as that happens, it just reminds us of how many stupid people we have walking among us. For them to have ever thought HE was the answer to our problems is hilarious!!

They have so much blood on their hands, but just lie to themselves about being responsible. They really are horrible excuses for human beings.

  1. You heard the man correctly, Bear wants to win a National Title at SC with only LSU, Michigan, Penn St, Oregon, sucla and Notre Dame standing in his way

  2. Probably realized that being coached by someone who worked with Aaron Donald is a good career choice. Either that or the House of Victory came through just in the nick of time.

  3. Best possible news for us- regardless of his inconstancy, he is far better than anything else we have.. and should be even better with this new staff!

  4. Scooter,

If Bear were smart, he would say forget the money and just work his rear end off to get ready for the draft. He has a great dline coach that he could learn from and if he pushes himself by getting in the bes shape of his life, he could be a 2nd-3rd round draft choice and be a better person for his hard work.

    1. I knew SC would get better in baseball. That guy is a great coach.

As far as Alexander is concerned. I think he was just trying to get more money from NIL and they gave it to him(I could be wrong). If that is what happened, they should have kicked him off of the team. He’s been a problem. It’s been reported that he’s come out in sweats a couple of times when everyone else was in full uniform. They had to send him back into the locker room. I hope we don’t have other really good players threatening to go into the portal just to get more money.
