Does It Matter Who Plays QB?

Since I posted comments from Joel Klatt yesterday, let’s remember what he said on August 20th about USC.

How did it hold up?

  1. The “Get rid of Wiley’ chant is similar to the ‘Get rid of Helton’ chant when SC was “forced” to keep Helton at least in part due to financial considerations, and the buy-out for Wiles is probably through the roof so he is SC’s coach through thick and thin

      1. It’s not helping that the prima donna on the d-line chose to abandon the team that he said he was 100% committed to at the start of camp.

      3. USC Trojans Linebacker Eric Gentry Injury Update: Potential Redshirt Season?

USC Trojans linebacker Eric Gentry sustained an injury after only four games of the 2024 season, so he now has the option to redshirt. USC Trojans coach Lincoln Riley updated reporters on the Gentry’s possible options.

      4. Guys — do you think Lincoln is tricky enough to be saying Gentry is out ….but plans to unleash him on Saturday…?

  2. Since Pete, the USC job seems to be snakebit:

    Kiffin now coaching #9 Mississippi

    Sarkisian now coaching #1 Texas

Coach O won a natty at LSU

Riley won 85% of his games at OU, now looking like the second coming of Helton

Yes, Kiffin grew up, Sark sobered up, and the village idiot is still the village idiot, but still, it doesn’t seem the job brings out the best in the guy who takes it.

  4. Scooter,

Not once this season have you mentioned the lack of sacks or why they are having problems sacking the qb. Is it because they don’t have enough dlinemen, or is it because of the scheme or both? We gots to know.

  7. It seems the only way to rid oneself of an SC loss is to get to Saturday for the next game, and then that becomes the topic of the week

  10. College football still maintains that aura of ‘every game is important,’ almost as if each game is a little ‘universe’ unto itself. I mean, in the Midwest they will be recalling for years the great 2024 Michigan and Minnesota victories over SC
