Morning Buzz: USC Is No. 1 In One Poll!

Did you know USC is the most expensive private college in the nation according to U.S. News and World Report?

It costs $71,647 for tuition and fees to attend USC.

And yet, USC somehow had a $158 million deficit in the last fiscal year.

Brown University is No. 2 at $71,312.

I’ve been writing about the budget cutbacks and layoffs recently at USC.

Here’s another sign: USC is slashing scholarships for students who earn elite scores on their high school PSAT exams. National Merit Finalists will now get a flat $20,000. That’s a 43 percent reduction from this year’s $34,952 (half tuition).

  1. Good article in today’s SCNG print edition about the incoming QB Husan Longstreet by beat reporter Luca Evans. Longstreet said bluntly he’ll secure a Ntl’ Title next year.

USC’s financial implosion is due to the settlements paid to the corrupt medical personnel and the Singer blowback coupled with the lack of loyalty/courage of Folt. Thankfully she’s gone 7 mos hence.

  2. The watering down of the academic requirements is more troubling than the high tuition costs. Why is reducing merit scholarships based on PSAT scores good for the long term reputation of the university. This is just another element of DEI.

    1. Because it’s unfair for some white or Asian kid to have a high PSAT score when Jovandis can’t tell the difference between a lemon and a tennis ball.

  3. Back in 2008 we were researching colleges with our daughter. When we came to Brown we looked at the courses they offered, I think they had more Gender Studies courses than History or English or well you the picture.

$72 large for Southern Cal?? The place has more security than Folsom! Who wants to be penned in like hogs? and if you venture outside, the Kidnapping/Ransom policy your folks had to buy is nullified!!

If you actually have the grades, go to UCLA, you can stroll around glamorous Westwood, hobnobbing with celebrities while sipping espressos.
