Before she departed yesterday, Carol Folt sent out a farewell statement.
I won’t bore you with the details but Folt said she would transition to being a faculty member and that people might see her “in one of my classes.”
Now it’s kind of a tradition for former USC presidents to teach after they retire but let’s see how this really works out. Is she going to actually teach multiple classes? Will she be accessible to the community or will she teach out of one of the new buildings at USC that require special procedures just to access the building? I’m betting on the latter.
- Meanwhile, her interim successor, Beong-Soo Kim, already distinguished himself today by sending out two different statements: one to faculty and staff and one to alumni and parents. Folt never did that.
And his messages seemed like he might have actually written them. Unlike previous presidents.
- USC women’s basketball has hired Selena Castillo of Duke as its new general manager.
USC made a big deal out of hiring her predecessor, Amy Broadhead, in a “groundbreaking” role as the first-ever general manager of the women’s basketball program last September. She lasted less than nine months before taking a job in the entertainment industry.
But she provided this unforgettable quote before she departed.
“If I’m being honest, it’s the women’s version of the Yankees,” Broadhead told the Orange County Register in a positive story shortly after being hired.

I like, respect and enjoy watching Ohtani as a player. he is one of my favorites because he respects the game, the opposing players, and the umpires. He is a a gentleman and a scholar. I do like Vin Scully. I can’t stand that loud mouth ballon Lasorda. he is phonier than a $3 dollar bill or Camel Harris.

MG says USC has 380 million in outstanding loans and mortgages to employees of USC including Folt. The loans are not being paid. That is quite a scandal. Where is the coveted Board of Trustees. We have had way too many scandals – billion dollar lawsuits, ect.
