A USC Legend Passes Away

Ken Matsuda, a towering figure within the USC track and field program for 18 seasons, has died. He was 90.

Matsuda was an influential assistant for track coach Vern Wolfe from 1966-84 and part of five NCAA championship teams. He coached the USC sprint relay teams to nine NCAA titles and 10 conference championships.

He was synonymous with USC track and made a huge impact during his tenure.

He coached USC long jumper Randy Williams, who won the gold medal at the 1972 Olympics and silver medal at the 1976 Olympics. Matsuda also coached the famous USC 440-yard relay team that set a world record of 38.6 seconds in 1967 and featured Earl McCullouch, Fred Kuller, O.J. Simpson and Lennox Miller.

  8. I remember seeing those great track teams he helped coach,and watched the 440 yd relay team set the record,both football all americans and track all americans. It was great to be a trojan fan back then,50’s/60’s/70’s. These days they are still pretty good but no where near as dominating. They practically supplied the olympic track and field athletes.

  10. I was good friends ( USC only) with Ken Matsuda bringing him

    Xmas gifts for many years. He was a true Trojan! So sorry to read about his passing. He lived a good life to 90. Those were the great old days of real tradition in the athletic department.

    1. Right. Carson did not want to alienate his viewers. He knew it was his job to entertain them. Make them laugh, not necessarily teach them that the Soros globalist view was superior to the conservative one. He was successful for over 30 year with huge ratings. Too bad Kimmel and Colbert didn’t adopt Carson’s philosophy. Those two didn’t care that they were alienating half their viewership and ratings were tanking and surprisingly neither did the networks. The networks were willing to absorb the losses to advance their political agenda.

Millions were kicked off of social media and/or cancelled for discussing the origins of Covid, the ineffectiveness of the vaccines, alternative treatments for Covid, the dangerous side affects of the Covid vaccine particularly in young males and pregnant women, ect. Newsom threatened to pull doctor’s licenses if they questioned the Covid treatment protocols or prescribed Ivermectin. Millions lost their jobs for refusing to take the vaccines. Turns out the Fauci narrative was all a big lie. The brave doctors who advised against the vaccines and recommended an early treatment plan of Ivermectin and vitamin D were correct.
