USC Fans And Lincoln Riley Won’t Like Parts Of Schedule

The USC schedule is out and we already have a talking point for Lincoln Riley and his lame defenders.

USC has to play Indiana and Ohio State when those teams are coming off byes! And the Trojans play Oregon the week after the Ducks play Portland State.

You know what I don’t like about the schedule? The USC-UCLA game is on Thanksgiving weekend.

Without Notre Dame any more, the Crosstown Rivalry could permanently move to Thanksgiving weekend. And that really puts a damper on a lot of activities associated with the rivalry because students are off campus.

For example, the annual rally becomes an afterthought and draws less fans.

Back to the schedule. The first big test is week 4 vs. Oregon at the Coliseum. USC plays Oregon, Washington and Penn State in consecutive weeks. That’s not going to be easy, especially with a road trip for Penn State. And then gets Indiana and Ohio State in 2 of 3 weeks.

Are you happy?

All that is left is scheduling the crummy opponent for a 12th game. UNLV or San Jose State anyone?

    1. Scott, grow up. Every coach points out the difficulties in scheduling. Lowering expectations is what they do. The USC schedule is brutal this year; if the team gets at least ten wins this year will you give them credit or complain that they didn’t go undefeated and win each game by three TDs. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962.

Bye the way, big, tough ND plays ten mediocre teams plus BYU and Miami. They should have opened the season with USC because they need USC more than USC needs them. I’m rooting for BYU and Miami to beat them.

    1. GEORGE —I HAVE A HUNCH THAT WE’LL EITHER WIN ALMOST ALL OUR GAMES OR LOSE EVERY GAME THIS YEAR…

…WHICH RAISES THE QUESTION: IF RILEY WINS BIG THIS YEAR DOES HE WANT AN EXTENSION OR A TICKET OUT OF DODGE & INTO THE NFL?

  1. uh-oh! Spaghetti-O!!!!!!! wolfman, there are three built-in stumbles for the trOXans!! margin for error: ZERO!!! meanwhile, everyone’s new darling, Chesney has a favorable schedule to challenge the 50 new gutties coming onto the team!!! Uncle Nico wants the season to start tomorrow!! when the smoke clears, will the trOXans try to hire Chesney??

hey wolfman, remember the time the Bruins won the Baseball Natty, and the pathetic trOXans embarrassingly tried to hire Savage out from under the Bruins the day after they won??? they offered him triple the money and he still told ’em to stick it!! that’s cringe, wolfman!! you try that bold move, you GOTTA land it, or you look like a desperate ex left crying in the rain!!!

  3. Chesney may be the next Cignetti, and if he is that would be great for UCLA. At least he is a proven coach and not an ex-Bruin with no head coaching experience. The pressure is all on LC to prove that he can be a great head coach and not just a glorified QB coach. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

      1. Good question about the sources for NIL money at all schools. We tend to know that Knight has been funding Oregon for the past 20 years and we found out that Mark Cuban is funding Indiana. Every school should have to disclose their NIL donors and what they are getting for the money. It was announced a couple of weeks ago that an athletic donor at UCLA just gave the school 17 million, but it was not explained exactly how it was being used….I assumed that it was for NIL payments. Does everyone remember the UCLA donor, Gilbert, who made lots of “donations” to Bruin basketball when John Wooden was their coach. I would also like to know how the 20 million authorized by the players’ lawsuit is being distributed to USC athletics across all sports. Is it for revenue earning sports only? Lots of questions for our intrepid journalist Scott Wolf to uncover. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

  4. I remember when Scott used to criticize John McKay after he had finished coaching. Now, everyone pales in comparison to Mckay. Give me a break, Wolf. The kids would stay if Riley gives them a reason to hang around.
