Chad Baker-Mazara No Longer On USC Basketball Team

Chad Baker-Mazara is no longer a member of the USC basketball team, the school announced this afternoon.

Baker-Mazara said he was hurt and could no longer play during yesterday’s loss to Nebraska and then sat next to the bench in seats with fans.

This ending doesn’t surprise insiders in the college basketball world. I mentioned last June when Baker-Mazara transferred to USC that this would be a volatile situation.

“You put crazy and crazy together, and it might just work,” Baker-Mazara said about his relationship with Eric Musselman.

Or it might not. Baker-Mazara averaged 18.6 points per game but Musselman invested several million dollars of NIL into the guard, who is now no longer on the team.

Between Baker-Mazara and the injured Rodney Rice, USC wasted millions this season.

  1. Let’s leave this alone.

Mental illness is nothing to laugh about or be cynical with snarky commentary.

Let’s wish the kid a good long life who hopefully didn’t waste his NIL money.

    1. You do you. Everyone else can post what they like.

If someone comes to my alma mater and takes millions to play for us, they need to be prepared to take the good with the bad. I know you love to play the part of victim. Not all of us buy into that.

  3. What a gem Jen hired in Eric Musselman–a reporter asked him why Baker Mazara sat with fans rather than with the team when he was out of the game, and Musselman said there were no more seats left on the bench.

Musselman must go too hopefully at the end of this season. The fact that he allowed this more than once this season shows you he has lost the team. He does not belong in college basketball he should return to the NBA D-League with a bunch of players like Mazara who play street ball..

  4. Scott Wolf is correct USC wasted alot of money on transfer this year this is not how you build a basketball program. But the biggest waste of money blame fall on the Athletic Director for hiring a coach who has never won anything for 5 million bucks. Time to move on from Musselman ….the longer we wait the longer it will take to re-build the program.
