If you want further proof of how ridiculous it is for USC to play a 12 p.m. game on August 29th, here is something to ponder: Since 2019, USC has played only one early season home game before 3 p.m.
That game was also against San Jose State (of course) in 2021 at 2 p.m. It was 85 degrees at kick off. Remember the 2022 season-opener against Rice? It was so hot (94 degrees) the USC band did not wear its uniforms for the first time in history at a home game. And that game kicked off at 3 p.m.
I hope the weather is fine for this year’s opener but there is a chance it could be unbearable. It doesn’t matter because NBC wants a noon kickoff and TV rules everything. Will you attend the game?
- Stanford defeated USC, 4-1, to win the NCAA women’s golf championship in Carlsbad. Still a good season for the Trojans.
- UCLA wins the Crosstown Cup, 115-75, over USC. Hard to win when you go 0-8 against UCLA in men’s and women’s basketball and baseball. If the score seems lopsided, it was worse two years ago when UCLA won, 120-70. Memo to Jen Cohen.
KAM: , Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has offered a far more brutal truth: USC simply ran away.
Love, appearing on the “St. Brown Podcast,” didn’t hold back when evaluating the Trojans’ departure from Notre Dame’s schedule. He believes the Trojans couldn’t handle the physical reality of playing the Fighting Irish.
“I ain’t lie to you, bro. SC, they don’t want to play ball no more, bro. Them boys don’t be coming to compete when they play at Notre Dame. They don’t play no more… They lay down, bro. The last two years I played them, bro, they ain’t been up for the job. And both years we played them, ran all over.”
DON: During his final two seasons in South Bend, Notre Dame’s rushing attack utterly dismantled the Trojans’ defense. In 2024, the Irish physically broke USC in a 49-35 win at the LA Memorial Coliseum. They followed it up in October 2025 with a commanding 34-24 victory, a game where Love routinely gashed the Trojans to secure the Jeweled Shillelagh for the final time. Riley Coyote is 1-3 against the Irish, tied with his predecessor Helton.

I remember when ND coaches complained that the academic standards of the university were too high to field a national championship caliber team. Evidently, those standards have been adjusted downward. Love sounds like a gangbanger from the hood. Hard to believe he was accepted into a program with high academic standards for their athletes.
And that 2024 game was very close. We were inside the 20 with a few minutes left and poised for a game tying touchdown when Maiava threw back to back pick six interceptions. Hardly a beatdown by the Irish.

Scott, the temperature on the field will be the same for both teams. Teams all around the country play games in less than ideal weather. Have you ever gone to a game in the South when the temp is in the 90’s and the humidity is in the 90% range also….that’s why the University of Florida invented Gatorade. Thanks for complimenting the women’s gplf team for their strong season. Stanford had an outstanding team including the U.S. Women’s Amateur champion. And, congratulations to the Bruins for winning the crosstown trophy. Too bad that USC doesn’t have the facility for a softball team. Let’s see what happens with men’s golf and the NCAA track and field championships. And, no I won’t be at the August football game because of difficulty traveling. My sons did take me to the Michigan game last year…..great game with the two greatest fight songs in college football….and I am aware that ND, your favorite school, has a fight song that is overrated. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

My pal Scott is going a bit overboard on Notre Dame, yes? —hope we beat Oregon, though —that’s all that matters up to that point….. then it becomes Washington…. and after that, Ohio State……

P. S.
Watch how fast Notre Dame becomes a part of the ancient past if USC wins its home games and gets into the playoffs….

DON: That’s what Jen “Taco Lita” Cohen and Riley Coyote are counting on- that USC’s fan base has degenerated into UCLA front runner style fans who don’t care about tradition and will swallow the administration’s current talking points

“Them boys (SC) don’t be coming to compete” at Notre Dame. Is this really the talk of a guy coming out of Notre Dame?
