USC Morning Buzz: Catching Up On Transactions

USC has 2/1 odds and a 33 percent chance of making the College Football Playoff, according to BetOnline.

  • USC pitcher Diego Velasquez, who entered the transfer portal last week, has committed to LSU. San Diego State is believed to be the frontrunner for ex-USC pitcher Garren Rizzo.

Could USC land a top pitcher? Hawaii pitcher Isaiah Magdaleno, who had 116 strikeouts in 95.1 innings and a 2.36 ERA, has entered the portal. He went to Crespi High School and USC just hired Hawaii pitching coach Keith Zuniga. Let’s see if USC can pull it off?

  • USC has hired Boston College assistant coach Sam Apuzzo as its new lacrosse coach. She is 28 years old and never been a head coach. She is currently a captain of the 2026 U.S. Women’s National Team that will compete in the World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo this summer.

  1. Can’t think of Boston College lacrosse without thinking of Welles Crowther. I hope his bravery & selflessness is not forgotten any time soon.

Here’s to The Man In The Red Bandana! 🍻

  3. wolfman, this just in!! take a knee whilst i educate the Dummies who hang ’round this blog like delinquents at a bodega!! US News and World Report releases their World University Rankings, wolfman!! the usual SIlver Spooners on top of rankings based 99% on inherited family wealth, Harvard, stanford etc… the Great UCLA was ranked 11th in the world, of course as a public university, this is profound!! of course we know Bruins have been ranked #1 Public U in USA for 8 yrs running, but good to see us recognized on world stage. many pundits have expressed they feel UCLA was under-ranked and should have been in top 3 when you consider quality of life and athletics but that is debate for another day. the silver spooners have always felt more secure behind huge stone walls surrounding their campuses. so sad. speaking of Prison Wall U’s, i searched for SC but gave up after viewing the first 70 or so U’s. sorry wolfman!!

    1. Speaking of hiding behind stone walls — guess what? — there is a thing called “real life” on the other side of the walls of academia. USC grads seem to do real well at it —in fact, USC grads run the City. The best law firms, the biggest accounting firms, the brightest names in Hollywood —all USC grads.

      1. This was funny: “good to see us recognized.”

Cuz you know darn well she didn’t graduate from SUCLA.

Even if she had, you’d think she’d appreciate the fact that we, the taxpayers, paid for the bulk of her education.

      2. To be accurate —WE paid for the first two weeks of his first quarter at UCLA….. records show he transferred to USC after that [where he met & married his Marxist Sociology Professor]….

      3. You mean like Karen Bass?? I’ll go with beloved Bruin Tom Bradley the greatest Mayor in LA’s history . As for the rest, I’m sure we could both bore each other with long lists of luminaries, but I would proffer OJ is so toxic, he shifts the balance decidedly towards UCLA!!

  4. SC has only a 1/3 chance of even making the Football Playoffs. The Trojans used to be 1/3 favorites to win the National Championship
