USC Morning Buzz: Most Valuable Player Must Also Be Most Consistent

Jayden Maiava is USC’s most important player this season and a Heisman Tropjhy candidate.

He is expected to have a big season. But here’s the question: Will he still have games like he did vs. Nebraska, Oregon and TCU? Those were wildly inconsistent performances, to say the least.

Does it matter USC lost Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane or are wide receivers simply a spot where you plug in players easily?

A lot of people don’t even mention Maiava’s consistency when analyzing this season. They think Maiava is going to be so much better, it won’t happen anymore. We’ll see. Especially with Oregon, Ohio State and Indiana on the schedule.

  1. Always great when the Wolfman uses a picture of the best “12th Man” in college football…The Spirit of Troy!!

A shame the moderators didn’t appreciate our discussion of 9/11 and the lax immigration policies that played a role not only in that, but the recent influx of commie candidates on the Left.

      1. How about Martha’s Vineyard. The sons and daughters of the idle rich already inhabit it and claim to be commies. All we have to do is burn-up their boats and private jets so they can’t leave. We don’t even need to build a wall.

      2. You mean the place full of residents who chimed about illegals, “Let them in! Let them in!”, but once they had only 50 of them plopped down in their community started shouting, “Get them out! Get them out!!”

They love discussing gender & sex with children, yet claim it’s the other side who are peh-dos! LMFAO

      3. You know what is actually funny, So Cal? The Romanov Family actually made several comments along the lines of what Charlie just wrote…just a few short months before they got taken into the basement to get their heads shot off…..

      4. btw,

To Charlie: I will say this —the socialists who won were all 100 times smarter & more articulate than the candidates they beat. They are sincere in their beliefs —- which is more than I can say for the RINOS….who have no beliefs. They were, in short, better candidates…

      6. Double btw to Charlie: When I was prosecuting 150 individual cases of battery and vandalism against the Revolutionary Communist Party for their actions on a particular May Day in the 1980’s, the City Attorney said “this is not a wise use of time…they’re just a rag tag band…”

Each year since that “rag tag band” has gotten stronger and better funded. They are now in position to do Real Damage.

      7. Yes, Sane Gabby, it’s hilarious to hear those dumb@sses try to claim we’re the dumb ones, when it took them more than 4 years to figure out what we knew in 2020.

  2. Hopefully that picture of Maiava leading the SC band after a conquest is a projection into the future with Oregon and Ohio St.

    1. I don’t —and they don’t have to be, John. They don’t have to average 15 yards after contact. They won’t be expected to hurdle tacklers. All they have to do is catch the damn ball when it hits their hands. Move the chains and we’ll be fine.

  3. Maiava has a lot of experience for a college quarterback. A redshirt year at UNLV followed by an all conference selection as a starter the next year. And now he will be going on his third year as a starter in Riley’s system. That is a big deal. He will be able to read defenses better, audible out of plays, find secondary receivers, and make better decisions in the option offense. I think that hurt him last year. He handed off at times when he should have run it. If he can improve his decision making, watch out, because he has the arm talent and is athletic enough.

    1. …yes…and ONE more thing: Jayden needs to remember what Ali used to tell himself before a Big Fight: “Anything I can do in the gym I can do against Frazier or Foreman.”
