Morning Buzz: The World Cup And USC Have Similarities

With the World Cup grabbing all the attention, and Brazil crashing out of the tournament, it’s a good time to remember that some compared USC to Brazil before the tournament.

Two teams that have won a lot of titles but haven’t won anything for more than 20 years. Iconic uniforms. Good at underperforming. Full of tradition. Plenty of swagger. Fans think they are better than they really are.

The similarities are endless.

  • The iconic Heisman House, which is located in Pasadena, is for sale and listed at $32 million. Maybe USC can tender an offer since it sold its presidential mansion in San Marino and needs a new official residence.

    1. Fans at the beginning of every season say, “THIS IS THE YEAR! WE’RE GOING TO WIN IT ALL!”

      Every 20 or 30 years, they get it right! They walk around telling everyone, “I told you! I knew they were going to do it this year!”

      Completely dismissing all the other years they got it wrong.

  3. Brazil wasn’t the only one who ” crashed ” out early. Germany and the Netherlands didn’t fare so well and the Mexico England game last night was awesome and I’m not a soccer fan, great intensity and grit.

  8. what a world, wolfman. we have now confirmed via the NYT that the worlds richest man has directly caused the deaths of nearly one MILLION poor people (mostly babies) by recklessly dismantling USAID which provided AIDS prevention & emergency food to world’s most desperate regions. one extra perverted detail: warehouses full of life-saving food supplements (already paid for and ready to ship) rotted in warehouses while children died grueling deaths.
