Fresno State Readies For USC

Fresno State coach Matt Entz, who used to be an assistant at USC, spoke today about playing the Trojans on Sept. 4.

“Playing USC is probably like playing the Avengers, they’re pretty talented. they’re pretty gifted,” Entz said.

“Where can we create mini victories within a game? That can help us stay close and keep it tight. Being a complemetary team can help us in a game like this.”

At first I thought Entz was referring to the old L.A. Avengers of the Arena Football League but that’s me.

I did find his comment about playing complementary football interesting. He saw how Lincoln Riley coaches first-hand a couple seasons ago.

Riley has gotten a little better at playing complementary football but I’m eagerly waiting to see how Gary Patterson handles that during the season.

  1. Perhaps, he really said, “Being a COMPLIMENTARY team can help us in a game like this.”

They’re going to do nothing but sing USC’s praises before the game and keep expectations low. In so doing, they will hope that USC underestimates them!

[Now, let’s get back to crying about politics! That’s really where it’s at]!

  3. DON: “Complimentary football” is where a team has the offense, defense and special teams working together to form a synergy that is greater than the sum of its parts

KAM: If you can achieve ‘complimentary football’ you won’t be getting any compliments from the opposition

  4. Well, the betting line figures to be something like 21-25 points. But never underestimate Lincoln’s ability to mess things up, so something like 34-24 could be final score.

  5. No worse than going to a blog every day where no one wants you, just to cry and insult people.

As always, accusing others of what she is guilty. Some things never change.

      1. Plow Horse has described her many issues so well, on more than one occasion. It’s pretty obvious why she needs to come here, where she’s not wanted, because no one wants her around in the real world either.

      2. So Cal,

WE at InsideUSC represent the bestest & realest world of all possible worlds [except for Sybil’s presence —which is a black spot —like the black spot Sir Bors saw on one cow in a herd of otherwise lily white cows after he ‘sinned’ with the King’s daughter]…..

  6. Everything leading up to games is just cheap talk….the game is played on the field. First games are just warm ups for the real game against Oregon….and yes, the best scenario is 40 -14 with the 14 scored against USC third stringers. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

P.S. I am anxiously awaiting Scott’s Beach Party Bingo report and his conversation on the sand with LR.

    1. I find it surprising that Scott didn’t report this ‘beach blanket bingo” considering his deep study of all things specific to USC athletics in particular – football.

nonetheless we are blessed that Wolf has created this site and updates it daily…i.e. ‘Bel-Air Tech’ has nothing compared to this site save some usual ‘…oh come let us adore him..’ chant for the ‘peckerwood’

  7. KAM The Fresno St coach also said that his Bulldogs’ team would be looking to “create mini-victories within a game”

DON: Win some battles but lose the war kind of stuff

  8. KAM: You see where some sports announcer got into it with his on-camera partner and was later fired. Here is what he said in response to his non-NfL partner’s sports comments: “That’s the non-player in you” talking

DON: To which the partner replied, “I give an alternative perspective”

  9. KAM: But the killer put-down comment was “What I need for you to do is not get mad and let me finish”

    DON: I use that line

DON: I presume all the SC kids have been working out on their own but there is nothing quite like team pressure to keep you in line

  12. KAM: You wonder about the collective attitude all these new SC football players are bringing in to the program.

DON: This Trojan class has heard they are No. 1; a lot is riding on them.– Hey, you know how football and boxing are alike?

KAM: Win or lose you know you’re going to get beat up at least a little. Of all the sports, this is why ‘losing is unacceptable

  13. KAM: Only in Philadelphia. The Phillies’ shortstop Turner yesterday had 2 homers and 4 misplays

DON: So the Philly fans took turns booing him after every misplay and applauding him for the homers
