Did you know USC freshman wide receiver Trent Mosley turned 20 this week? A 20-year-old freshman. Freshman safety Madden Riordan is also 20. Meanwhile, fellow freshman wide receiver Boobie Feaster turned 17 in late May.
Speaking of age, former USC defensive lineman Solomon Tuliaupupu is on the Montana roster for his ninth season of eligibility. He is 26 years old. He was in the same recruiting class as Packers linebacker Micah Parsons, who has already played five seasons in the NFL.
- And now for some history:
- There is only one USC superfan: Giles Pellerin, who attended 797 straight USC games from 1925-1998. He never missed a game, unlike the guy who currently tries to claim a streak.
In the 1930’s, Pellerin and other USC fans used to take a boat from L.A. up the coast to San Francisco when the Trojans played Stanford or Cal.
In 1949, Pellerin was hospitalized on the Tuesday before USC played Washington at the Coliseum. His appendix was removed. On the day of the game, he told the nurses he was going for a walk and went to the game. He returned to the hospital a few hours later.
- In 1967, USC students were allowed to bring sleeping bags and spend the night at the Coliseum before the No. 4-ranked Trojans met the No. 1-ranked Bruins.
- USC suffered a huge upset 3-0 loss at Oregon State the week before the game. When the Trojans returned, “UCLA is No. 1” was painted on the locker room. It turned it was done by a couple USC students who wanted to motivate the Trojans.
- When Richard Saukko rode Traveler for decades at USC, he sometimes had one horse and a couple stand-ins. For example, in 1983 he rode Traveler III and two stand-ins. The reason was Traveler III was not always great around bigger crowds and a lot of fans would want to touch the horse.
“If somebody walks up from behind and taps him, he hauls out and kicks them,” Saukko said.

In 1966, Saukko took the field during the third quarter of the Notre Dame game in 1966 with Traveler I and Traveler II.

- USC guard Steve Jennings passes the ball to forward Bill Hewitt as the Trojans face UCLA in 1967.
- In 1966, after USC reserve tailback Jim Lawrence gained 89 yards and scored a TD vs. Cal in his first start, someone left a cane on the doorstep of his fraternity.
A note was left with the cane that had the name of UCLA defensive back Mark Gustafson but Gustafson did not send it.
“I thought it was a pretty good joke,” Lawrence said. “I don’t think Gustafson really sent it. Football players don’t do things like that. Besides, he’s got Stanford to worry about (this week), not us.”
Said Gustafson: “It would be awful stupid for a football player to send something like that. It’s ridiculous. If it was reverse, I wouldn’t believe a USC player did it. I’m convinced it was sent by a prankster.”

Actor William Atherton celebrated his 79th birthday this week. He is probably best known for roles in “Die Hard,” “Die Hard 2” and “Ghostbusters.”
But have you ever heard him sing? He’s performed a stellar rendition of the classic, “What’ll I Do” that was featured in the film, “The Great Gatsby.”
Get over it, Scott! Psycho Fan attended every game HE WAS ALLOWED TO ATTEND. He had zero control over the fascists, such as Fauci, who shut things down. If you want to put an asterisk next to his streak, fine! But it’s still a streak!

you are trying to gas light everyone. if you want to have a consecutive games streak, you must ATTEND the games. he is actually lying and saying he has not missed a game. if he lives long enough he will claim to surpass Giles. You cool with that? If you are, than you are pathetic.

As I stated, put an asterisk next to it. If you can’t do that, YOU are the pathetic one.

Giles doesn’t have an asterisk next to his either and he wouldn’t have the streak, were it not for the Athletic Dept. helping him.

he ATTENDED the games. the other guy did not. you’ve now made about your third round of excuses. so lame.

How the Athletic Dept help Giles ?

No. The lame one is the person claiming the other guy’s streak doesn’t count. I commend them both!
But keep crying about someone threatening Giles’ streak, even though it will probably never happen. LOL

And by the way, not attending games NO ONE WAS ALLOWED TO ATTEND is hardly an excuse. It’s a fact!
Giles not only received help from the Athletic Dept. to attend some away games. He was also very lucky to have never been PROHIBITED from attending the games.
As I’ve stated more than once, both streaks are great!

That’s hilarious coming from someone who ignores the FACT that Giles would not have gotten to some away games, if the Athletic Dept had not flown him to those games! HILARIOUS!!
Psycho has done it all on his own.
I don’t get my feelings hurt by either claim. They are both great streaks.
Love you, Scott. You can get in the last shot.

the great Fauci is a hero, he saved millions with his work on AIDS and Covid vaccines while the Big Peedo told us to drink bleach and put a fluorescent light up our arses. meanwhile, the Big Peedo and the trillionaire Musk cut long-standing aid to other countries that led directly to hundreds of thousands babies dying from starvation while already paid for food rotted in warehouses. if i understand the universe, there will be a reckoning for this kind of greed and cruelty.

Happy weekend Trojans and Charlie. Interesting quote from Maiava about “Charmin’ Chad” Bowen:
“Words couldn’t describe how much I love that guy and what he’s done for the program and everything he’s done for the people around him. The people he’s affected and influenced in a positive way,” Maiava said.
The SI piece went on to describe Bowen’s authenticity, which is a breath of fresh air.

SC’s biggest fan Pellerin has his appendix removed and still makes an SC football game. That’s what it takes to be the No 1 fan

Yes, but there were times the Athletic Department allowed him to fly on the team plane for away games, so his streak wouldn’t be broken.
Psycho Fan has done it on his own.
Both streaks are noteworthy. To claim otherwise is childish.

Two of the biggest mistakes Parseghian ever made were a mere 7 days apart – sitting on the ball when a FG would have defeated MI St. and then settling for a 10 – 10 tie, then having absorbed the ntl’ contempt for his ‘safe and sane’ idiocy, took out his faux pas by crushing USC 51 – 0 the following Saturday. McKay vowed to never lose to ‘the princess’ again (came pretty close 6-1-2).

Thanks Scott, these were very good historical notes. Wasn’t the 1967 BB game the game where USC held the ball for long periods of time to deprive Lew Alcindor of oppostunities to slam dunk or use his skyhook? I think that they won it at Pauley Pavillion but lost at the Sports Arena. Anyway, thanks for the memories. fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

FYI- They just opened up homeless hotel in downtown Encino. Bass sucks.
