USC Morning Buzz: A Training Camp Highlight Or Lowlight?

USC scrimmaged yesterday and a highlight was this long TD play by freshman wide receiver Boobie Feaster.

Even USC wanted the public to see a glimpse of Feaster’s explosiveness and put rhe clip on social media..

But here is something else to consider: Who was on the defense? Among the players chasing Feaster were Taylor Johnson, Jadyn Ramos, Joshua Holland, Talanoa Ili, Trestin Castro, Isaiah Rubin and Brandon Lockhart.

Most of these guys are first-or-second year players. That explains a lot.. It’s not the first-team defense. I’m providing some context because nobody else will.

Here’s the other thing: What does Gary Patterson think of the play?

  1. It’s called a practice session. Let Boobie get his credit. It was one play out of many. Maybe Coach Patterson will show an INT for media consumption. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

      1. Glass half full, maybe Patterson’s defense plays better in games than in practice against the best offense in the country? Don’t crush what little hope that I have for the season.     1. Boobie part of a star frosh WR class. He has clocked 21 plus mph during a game on a touchdown play and perhaps the more impressive film of him is catching highly contested balls. Tanook Hines has run a 10.07 100 meters. Some see frosh WR Trent Mosley as even better than Feaster.

      2. King Miller is supposedly heavier and faster than last year, and Waymo Jordan is back, plus there is Mark Bowman who should be a star TE. Maybe we will see the return of Riley’s 50/50 run-pass offense that he had at Oklahoma.

      3. The desired 50/50 balance will depend on how effectively the o-line opens holes and keeps the QB upright!

  9. Wolf’s opinion is always negative- Feaster has talent let’s be positive and hopefully he will develop into a great player if he stays here for 3 years

    After Anthony Davis scored six touchdown against Notre Dame Wolf probably stated in his Daily Trojan article that it was against a weak team and defense.
