You want to know how ridiculous things are going right now. I spoke to someone who is close to Clay Helton, has met Mike Bohn and Carol Folt and is considered in good graces by everyone at USC. So what is happening? “Sounds like he might be safe but I don’t know, there are conflicting stories I’m hearing,” they said. So even people who should … Continue reading It’s Time For A USC Update

Athletic director Mike Bohn fired up a group of former players before the UCLA game and told them he wanted them more involved in the football program. What he didn’t say at the time was his feelings on making a coaching change. And if he polled those former players, he would know what he needs to do today. “I know a lot of us wanted … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Back On The Clock

So it looks like Monday will close with no announcement. I said on Petros and Money that USC athletic director Mike Bohn could still hit a home run or strike out with this hire/non-hire. Why do you need someone in … Continue reading Mike Bohn Can Still Hit A Home Run

A former USC coach told me that on the coaching grapevine, people are saying not to rule out Bob Stoops. The speculation is Stoops showed little interest in the Florida State job because he would be interested in USC. He would be a big name if USC is unable or Carol Folt is unwilling to hire Urban Meyer. Continue reading Another Name To Keep An Eye On

Two sources tell me they still believe USC is attempting to line up a replacement for Clay Helton and that is the reason the program remains in limbo today. “The only reason I can imagine this delay is if they are negotiating with someone,” the source said. “Otherwise, they would have announced Clay is staying.” Remember in 1997, Mike Garrett kept John Robinson as USC … Continue reading What’s The Latest?

Offensive tackle Casey Collier of Baytown, Texas, doesn’t care about the uncertainty regarding Clay Helton. Collier committed to USC today. Why not? His two other most serious choices were Minnesota and Texas Tech. He is a three-star and not ranked individually by Rivals. 247Sports has Collier as the 95th-best offensive tackle in the nation. What’s funny is two other USC tackles, Andrew Milek and Andres … Continue reading USC Lands A Three-Star Lineman
