USC Gets A Wide Receiver Commitment (Shocking)

Here’s a shocker. USC just got a commitment from a wide receiver. Well, maybe a bit of a shocker, because it’s a three-star: Ja’Kobi Lane of Mesa, Ariz., chose USC over Oregon, the Arizona schools and Kansas State. Lane is 6-foot-5, which is intriguing. Unrelated to this commitment, it will be interesting to see how many commitments stick or if Lincoln Riley eventually drops anyone. … Continue reading USC Gets A Wide Receiver Commitment (Shocking)

If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column

Do college football fans — meaning you — really want two superconferences of 20-24 teams? How is it good for the sport to have a lot of teams on the outside looking in? Does it make college football better to have a huge number of have-nots who fall further and further behind the SEC and Big Ten teams? Williams has more … Continue reading Did Lincoln Riley And Caleb Williams Really Have Adversity?

USC Morning Buzz: Just How Is The Secondary Co-Existing?

One thing I’m looking for this season is how the cornerbacks and safeties work together. And what I really mean is how are Alex Grinch and Donte Smith working together. A lot of schools have one person in charge of the secondary. But Grinch is the safeties coach and defensive coordinator. Clancy Pendergast tried that with results best ignored. The corners especially didn’t like it … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Just How Is The Secondary Co-Existing?
