If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
When USC canceled today’s main graduation ceremony two weeks ago, I said Carol Folt was afraid of getting booed. Well, Thursday’s events certainly bolstered that theory. USC held the Student Recognition Ceremony at Bovard Auditorium. Folt always opens the ceremony with her opening remarks. But she was nowhere to be found at Bovard. Keep in mind this event has the Creme de la creme of … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
Deja Vu All Over Again At USC
USC has done it again. For the second straight year at the athletes’ graduation ceremony, it has given out the “Willis O’Hunter” Award, which is named after Willis O. Hunter. I thought last year that this was a social media error but it’s even spelled wrong on the official list of awards for athletes. I bet the plaque/trophy handed out to the athletes has his named … Continue reading Deja Vu All Over Again At USC
USC Looking For Line Help
I hear USC wants to pay around $450,000 to its final basketball assistant coach. How hard can it be to find someone with that salary? Apparently, harder than expected. USC’s academic senate voted to censure President Carol Folt and Provost Andrew Guzman on Wednesday, citing “widespread dissatisfaction and concern among the faculty” about USC’s handling of recent problems that have dominated the news on campus. The academic senate is the representative body of the faculty. The censure vote was 21-7. The Academic Senate tabled a vote of no confidence against Folt and Guzman. Graduation Blues
USC is holding its satellite graduation ceremonies on Friday. But it closing all parking structures to the public and making only one available to employees. That’s not going to be a fun day at all for the students who are graduating. USC recommends rideshare or public transportation. Oh, sure. And even if you do that, there will be metal detectors for the five security checkpoints. … Continue reading Graduation Blues
