Two sources tell me they still believe USC is attempting to line up a replacement for Clay Helton and that is the reason the program remains in limbo today. “The only reason I can imagine this delay is if they are negotiating with someone,” the source said. “Otherwise, they would have announced Clay is staying.” Remember in 1997, Mike Garrett kept John Robinson as USC … Continue reading What’s The Latest?

Offensive tackle Casey Collier of Baytown, Texas, doesn’t care about the uncertainty regarding Clay Helton. Collier committed to USC today. Why not? His two other most serious choices were Minnesota and Texas Tech. He is a three-star and not ranked individually by Rivals. 247Sports has Collier as the 95th-best offensive tackle in the nation. What’s funny is two other USC tackles, Andrew Milek and Andres … Continue reading USC Lands A Three-Star Lineman

I will be on Petros and Money (570-AM) around 2:45 p.m. (PT) to discuss the on-going Clay Helton saga. Meanwhile, I’ve heard USC president Carol Folt say when dealing with scandal, you attack it head-on and confront it. Clay Helton’s coaching might not be a scandal, but you need to deal with it. Folt seems to be a take-charge president. I don’t think it’s a … Continue reading What Is Carol Folt’s Role?

If USC actually keeps Clay Helton, it’s absurd that it is still waiting to announce it. What recruit would be dumb enough to commit when the A.D. doesn’t even act like he wanted to keep Helton? It is 12 p.m. and nothing has happened yet. I can’t say this makes Mike Bohn look decisive. Is he interviewing someone else so that he lines up a … Continue reading It’s 12 p.m., What Is Mike Bohn Doing?

Washington coach Chris Petersen has decided to step down and will assume a position in a “leadership advisory role for Husky Athletics.” Defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake will become the Huskies’ new coach. So Washington has lost and replaced its football coach while USC still sits on its hands so far today. Maybe Mike Bohn should make a call to Petersen to see how much he … Continue reading Chris Petersen Steps Down, USC Sits On Hands

USC cannot drag out the Clay Helton situation longer than today, can it? Mike Bohn is back in town. The program looks weak by standing still Sunday while everyone else plans their futures. Here’s what a member of the Board of Trustees told me Sunday night. “I’ve had enough (of Clay Helton).” But the trusteee added this: “I do not want USC to hire Urban … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Something Needs To Happen Today
