Former USC Fullback Doug MacKenzie Passes Away

Doug MacKenzie was a fullback who played at USC from 1979-81. That means he was a fullback who blocked for two Heisman Trophy winners (Charles White, Marcus Allen). In the above picture, he is blocking for Allen in the 1980 USC-Arizona State game.

MacKenzie died on Feb. 24. He had suffered a stroke in 2016. He was 59. In 1980, he rushed for 127 yards in 24 carries and scored a touchdown. He also caught seven passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. Prior to USC, MacKenzie played at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara.

  2. I use to jog out to San Marcos High School field everyday and watch Doug practice he was one of best fullbacks ever his Spirit lives on forever GO ROYALS !

  3. Doug was blessed to be truly gifted ballplayer. To this day The Kansas City Chiefs make sure they draft big fullback after see just a glimpse of what Doug could do for the Chiefs running game. Doug worked hard and played hard and nobody had a better genuine laugh the Doug. Inducted the San Marcos High School Hall of Fame a few years before his passing. Until we meet again brother .
