One thing Clay Helton liked during today’s scrimmage was that Jack Sears connected on some deep passes.
“You have seen improvement . . .We had overthrown a bunch of balls early in camp. Today I think they gave kids a chance to make plays.”
A reader pointed out four days earlier, offensive coordinator Tee Martin on wide receiver Velus Jones: “You can’t overthrow him.”
I think it’s time to give Sears some serious love if Helton says it’s impossible to overthrow Velus Jones —and, yet, Sears keeps overthrowing him……

I do appreciate the fact that Helton is holding the QB position open and letting the players earn it, even the walk on is getting reps. They will all improve, the cream will rise to the top.

The amount of reps Helton is giving to a walk on represents a signal, steveg: Helton is, in effect, saying “….and when J.T. gets here, Fink & Sears will see their reps drop even more.”
