A Star-Studded Spring Game Lineup

Here’s more proof of the star-studded lineup for the 1961 USC spring game, which featured ex-Trojans in the NFL vs. current USC players.

Ron Mix is in the NFL Hall of Fame and considered one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history. Defensive back Lindon Crow played for the New York Giants in “The Greatest Game Ever Played” (1958 NFL championship game).

Marlin McKeever played 13 years in the NFL and was the Rams MVP in 1971. Monte Clark had an 11-year NFL career and might be best known to some as head coach of the Detroit Lions.

Jon Arnett and Jim Sears, two star USC running backs, served as the coaches.

Maybe the best part is the price of admission: $2 for adults; $1 for students and children.

Below are some of the USC players that faced the pros.

  1. Adjusted for inflation, that works out to about $16 and $8 for adults and kids respectively, which seems on par with most USC spring games, except for the most recent which was free.
