Five-Star Forward Onyeka Okongwu Commits To USC

Chino Hills forward Onyeka Okongwu, who is ranked the 18th-best player in the nation by Rivals for the Class of 2019, announced today he committed to USC. He also considered UCLA and Kansas.

I mentioned last week USC thought it would land Okongwu. USC is ranked No. 5 in recruiting by Rivals with only Okongwu’s commitment.

The 6-foot-9 forward plays for the Compton Magic club basketball team. That is where USC assistant Eric Mobley used to coach. And it is where Mobley’s sons play too. They will commit to USC too.

Do these commitments come with an asterisk if USC faces any NCAA sanctions?

  1. The young mans needs to know the ramifications. If he is squared away with them and still proceeds to choose USC, then the young man is not taken advantage of.

  4. The NCAA would have a lot of nerve (or ba**s) to apply sanctions this year. Unless they do it to like 50 schools, including Duke and UNC. The McNair trials is showing just how corrupt and haphazard the NCAA sanctions committee is.
