Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott made $4.8 million in 2016.
How is he worth this much money? Someone will point to the TV contracts he negotiated with ESPN and Fox along with the creation of the Pac-12 Network.
But I’m pretty sure someone could have accomplished the same amount for $2.4 million per year.
USC president Max Nikias $3.2 million in 2015. The answer to his compensation is the $6 billion he helped fund raise from 2011-17.
I have no problem with being rewarded. But where are the checks and balances?
When you make this much money people fear you. Who will take on someone making $4.8 million? Or 3.2 million?
Scott is only now starting to hear some questioning from conference athletic directors/presidents about the Pac-12 Network’s disappointing revenue. But no one says his job is in jeopardy.
Nikias was a dictator at USC until he botched the medical school dean and student health center gynecologist scandals.
These salaries are outrageous, however, and unnecessary for someone to do a good job.
How much should you pay a beat writer who hates the school he writes about?

Just think Jim Mora was the highest paid employee of the State of Cal.. I somewhere read there is a bill floating around that would only pay UC coaches (any sport) a max of $200,000 per year.. Chip will be gone if that Bill passes..and to think what the rest of the conference are able to pay and hire the best coaches… This article stated no other schools would impacted by the Bill..lol.. Kinda figure since it was CA Democrat lawmaker who wrote the Bill.. Whatever…
Hope everyone is well!

As far as I’m concerned, USC Dan, it would be okay if UCLA were allowed to double that $200, 000 for Chip….

Larry Scott put the Jedi Mind Trick on the Pac-12 college presidents. The guys sucks. That TV deal is one of the worst deals in media history – BEST if you’re ESPN & Fox.
