Here is a revealing list after Oregon State won the College World Series.
2018-19 NCAA national titles:
Pac-12 – 12
SEC – 5
ACC – 4
Big 12 – 3
Big Ten – 2
Big East – 2
Another banner year for the Pac-12, the Conference of Champions. Unless you happen to think football and men’s basketball matter.
Arizona won the NCAA men’s basketball title in 1997. That was the last Pac-12 title in that sport.
USC won the BCS title in 2004. That was the last Pac-12 title in that sport.
Let’s be honest, all the other sports are window dressing when it comes to national relevance. It might not look so bad if the Pac-12 didn’t go 1-8 in bowl games last season too.

Do football championships count towards NCAA championships? For example, is Alabama’s football championship one of the 5 claimed by the SEC this year?
Also, shouldn’t it be 2017-2018 NCAA National Titles, not 2018-2019. Maybe I fell asleep for a long time.
