USC Flips Georgia Tech Commit

IMG Academy cornerback Briton Allen, who committed to Georgia Tech more than a year ago, signed with USC this morning.

He is a three-star prospect and one of 17 players who have signed so far today. USC is currently ranked No. 29 in the recruiting rankings by Rivals.com.

  1. I noticed the athletic department isn’t boasting the number of stars for each recruit in their social media blasts as they have in years past. Any word on that, Flow? Mr. “Inside USC…”

  2. He is an ESPN 300 player (#212) and a 4 star according to them. Glass half-empty SW (aka Debbie Downer) does it again. Wa Wa Wa.

  3. Today’s Times has a lengthy article on Swann directly contacting potential recruits and his emphasizing that Helton is on board for the long haul. The writer cites draft consultants who have never seen an AD be that personally involved. Sounds good except why would an athletic director need to be involved in the first place? The article also states the chaos specific to the football coaching situation is being used aggressively by the Pac-12 and other programs to wean former USDC commits elsewhere. The biggest gainer is OR also LSU, under Orgeron, has made moves into the southland.

Once again a big thank you to gutless Haden’s input finding someone who was even more inept than he was – Lynn Swann – thus making Haden’s tenure more credible.

Until Helton is tossed USC is going to continue to decline further than it already has.

  4. SC will probably not finish ahead of Oregon, Wash, or Stanford…I think it has been quite a while since SC was recruiting more 3 stars than 4 or 5…they did not develop anyone in any significant way the last couple years…and the athletes know it.

    1. That’s the state this storied program finds itself mid-December 2018. One of only 50 other Div 1 school out of 130 – that will NOT play in a bowl game this year due to our horrific record. Nearly all of us here were adamant last year after the Cotton Bowl fiasco that this would be the state of USC football with Sam Darnold’s departure because of this totally inept and clueless ‘head coach’ Clay Helton. It matters not what ‘luck’ Kingsbury conjures up or what recruits choose to come to USC as long Helton in head coach this is our reality.
