  1. What I find astounding is there is a sense of urgency for everyone outside the Athletic Department at SC, i.e.,student body, alumni, community, and others, and none on the part of the said department, to fix the problems regarding the football program. Other colleges and universities going through major changes right now before spring training regarding their football programs out of necessity (termination or resignation of key personnel) and are moving and shaking with getting the necessary replacements immediately. At SC, there appears to be a lackadaisical mindset about the very important issues and matters that need to be addressed immediately. Swann and his sidekick Helton are probably wondering why everyone is chuckling, and saying under their breath, that the folks in charge of the administration of the prigram don’t have their ducks in one row and/or have their heads up where the Sun does not shine…So when are Swann and Helton going to wake up and smell the coffee and get their act together to save our football program that has had a rich heritage of progress and not digression? And lastly, Scot mentioned Swann is back east. So is Swann at Augusta playing golf or talking to the OC at Georgia? I guess since Swann isn’t a proponent for open communication, we may never know…

    1. 1drjesscamacho —-Swann’s probably following Willie Brown’s advice to California’s present governor. Back in the day when Gavin was Mayor of San Francisco stories of wild coke parties began surfacing, almost on a daily basis. Brown advised Mayor Gavin to “ride it out” and not comment until he had a “new and different” subject to talk about. Willie understood that politics is the art of staging the surfacing of information. That’s probably great advice for a modern day American office holder —-the whole job seems to be getting through the day without self destructing. No one really expects too much more from them anymore.
I guess we all figure, “let big business and organized crime run the country —-at least they have some idea of where they’re going.” But I’m pretty sure big business and organized crime aren’t interested in running SC football (Toa’s job at center only LOOKED criminal). Swann needs to climb into the trenches and get involved. Unfortunately, both Helton and Swann have decided they can ride this misbegotten mess out as long as the toy president and toy board remain in a state of complete disarray. All they’re thinking about is personal survival —nothing else. I really will puke if I hear Helton say ONE more thing about God and family. He’s a total fraud. And so is Swann.

      1. Funny how the demoncrats always understand the kinship with the corrupt 4th estate i.e. any expose on their lifestyles and agenda is never a point of ‘connection’. How this connects to USC you say? As Mike pointed out all those who hold power or worse are used to it know only the ‘present’. For them, and for all of us, it is all that matters ‘the present’ – not what once was but ‘now’. This is why hell is eternal and must be to be just – it is what such that chose it deserve – ‘the present’.

To truly terrify the ‘Hadens’ and ‘Swanns’ of this world is to give them a new ‘present’ and have them compare that to what they so wish they had.

      2. I don’t know if this gonna show up under what you just wrote, Alv (I haven’t mastered site geography yet)—but I wanted to let you know that I think what you just wrote is pure poetry.

      3. Mike can’t claim I thought f what I wrote – saw it on ‘sensus fidelium’ ‘you tube’ why Hell has to be eternal. The priest began by showing someone in deep winter w.o. heat and that was ‘the present’…incredible insight on his part – unknown name….it is what Swann and Haden so deserve esp. Haden for that plundering of the Mayr Foundation – for himself1

      4. Kamala Harris, our beloved Senator from CA, used to bang Willie Brown up in San Francisco to further her political aspirations. ROTFLMAO. True story.

  2. A football program that Is one of the most well-respected in the nation is at the University of Alabama. The man who set the bar for excellence was a man named “Bear Bryant”. He was stern and ruthless as a coach to his players and was known to openly make some of assistant coaches realize their shortcomings. But because he was a profound “leader” on and off the field, he never had a problem with maintaining his stature as a head coach. At SC, John Robinson would be akin to Bryant in Southern California. Fast forward to Nick Saban and the Tide. He has tied the record of Bryant and would have broken it had he not been dismantled by Clemson for the recent CFP championship. Subsequent to the lost to Clemson, Saban began losing all his very adept coaches to other schools wanting to build a winning program. In addition, he has had some of his playmakers announcing their intentions to participate in the program draft. And on top of all that, some of his players are doing things like getting arrested for public intoxication. With all these negatives, do you think Saban will buckle under the pressure. I think not simply because he is a genuine leader with the intestinal fortitude to take on adversity without missing a beat. If the athletic leadership at SC was anywhere close to what exists at Bama, then everyone on this blog, as well as, in Southern California would be smiling from ear to ear and dancing in the streets…

    1. John Robinson? Are you serious? Remember that grade scandal that hit the school hard after the 1981 season? As an NCAA investigation was incoming ‘Jolly John’ booked for the Rams. Robinson, in running as fast as he could after stating he was going to stay, gave us Tollner.

      1. Crap. It’s been so long, I forgot ALL about that, Alv. Thanks for jogging my memory. [I do remember the Rams’ Eric Dickerson saying that all Robinson ever did was lie to him—-but I think Eric didn’t appreciate that it “was not personal, just business” as far as John was concerned].

  3. From all appearances, I don’t think Lynn Swann is really the athletic director, I think he’s the front man for a University in disarray, and is willing to do so for the annual 1.5 million dollar salary he receives. Nothing he does makes any sense, and he comes across as an idiot . For somebody who’s played on championship teams at the college, and pro level for legendary coaches, why does he act like he’s clueless? Some people will do anything for money, and I think Swann is one of those people.

    1. Whoa Nellie! “… he comes across as an idiot.” Love it ! Man, that is good! Swann’s a lazy worthless sap with ‘entitlement’ written all over his smug ‘plastic surgeried’ face.

    1. At one time that might have been the truth but now under Helton it certainly is not. We can only hope that someone has a magic trick up their sleeve. We are ready for another Pete Carroll like hire.

  4. The Football scoop is reporting that Arizona Cardinals and Kliff Kingsbury is closing in on the hiring of Steve Sarkisian as offensive coordinator. Hows the trip from the Cardinals going to be to the Coliseum?

  5. Pac-12 fan: Regarding the Arizona Cardinals rolling into town to play at the LA Colesium with Kingsbury as HC and Sarkisian as OC. My projection is that only one-third of the stadium would be full. And, the ones watching might be SC advocates that would boo Kingsbury throughout the game and throw beer bottles (or maybe offer him a beer) at Sarkisian (Lol)😎

  6. Rusoviet: I stand corrected regarding Robinson. I guess I need to update my database, and memory bank about important particulars that I did not make mention of.

    1. No problemo amigo….it was the reason Garrett wanted to fire him (Robinson) as soon as he (Garrett) replaced Mike McGee when he took over as AD as McGee and Smith were shown the door. (1993). Garrett saw Robinson as not loyal but not willing to take the heat when the Rams came calling. Reminds one of another USC head coach about 10 years ago who acted in a similar fashion – but I digress.

He gave Robinson a 1-year extension before the 1997 season and tossed him after the season ended with that infamous ‘phone call message’.

  7. A question for all the SC trollsters: Who was the greatest SC coach in the history of the football program? Your insight will help me to discontinue making the wrong presumptions on this blog. Thank you.

  8. Swann got his check on Thursday, cashed it, and took off on the same day. I hope he stays and becomes the AD for the golf course. Swann, don’t let the door hit u on the way out. And to believe I stuck up for him when my friends ragged on him. They said he is incomptenent. I finally have agreed.
