Is it really possible Matt Fink never committed to Illinois other than his father saying so?
And, if true, why did it take four days for Fink to clear it up?
Does Illinois really want former Penn State QB Tommy Stevens more?
I’m already tired of Fink’s college search and it doesn’t appear to have gotten very far.
- I’m going to mention this ESPN article on Oregon coach Mario Cristobal because a former USC coach recommended it to me as a contrast to Clay Helton.
Here’s an example that has been discussed on this blog.
Cristobal actually took his staff to Alabama and Georgia this spring: “Cristobal soaked up the practices, meetings and atmosphere with Nick Saban and Kirby Smart like a giant sponge. He studied the bodies, movement and speed of the SEC athletes in Tuscaloosa and Athens, silently comparing them to the physical makeup of his own team.”
Note: Cristobal hired a strength coach from Georgia.
- USC ace Connor Lunn had a rough outing at Arizona on Friday night. Lunn gave up seven earned runs and nine hits in 3.2 innings. The Trojans lost to the Wildcats, 12-4. Lunn is now 6-3 overall.
Teams seem to play like their coach (unless you have a Sam Darnold at QB).
Helton is a couch potato. Overweight and like many overweight people, wants to be loved, not feared or respected.
Here is the opposite: https://newsok.com/gallery/6033547/venables-test

Felony U’s Baseball team takes another loss in the shorts that stymies its feeble quest to attain a team .500 winning Pct.

Nothing absolutely nothing changes until both Helton and Swann are gone.

Clay Helton doesn’t need to observe Nick Saban, or Kirby Smart’s programs, because he has better ideas on how to win a championship. Bozo Helton’s philosophy is finesse football, with no emphasis on line of scrimmage dominance .

You’re twice as good as you need to be, or dumb. Take your pick.

The other thing Cristobal has in common? Taking a Heisman front runner and not developing him further. So badly in fact, he dropped from projected top pick to a 4-5th round pick by most estimates and was forced to return. Took a team most picked at or near the top of their division to a miserable 5-4 conference record and 4th place finish in the north. Wow, he sure hope he got a lot of mileage out of those visits. Hmmm.

He turned over much of his staff AFTER he recruited kids. Hardly what one might call ethical. It isn’t hard to imagine scottie opining against the Trojans should they have pulled off something along these lines…

Scottie, you can always find other items to report about. How about players who might come here, rather than those who intend to leave?

Here’s a topic he could check out as Mr insideusc…how many scholarships do we have left, how many went against last year & how many do we get back and when due to the transfers?? A real puff piece compared to his usual topics I know.

There used to be some smart old guy who’d do these computations every spring and fall for one of the USC publications—I forget his name but not only did he really understand the ins and out of the scholarship numbers, he put names to who was probably coming and who was going.

The world has taken a significant turn when it comes to these numbers and how/when the transfer portal guys come off your books so to speak.. take the more unique situation of Bru McCoy who, if he’s granted a waiver might be the first of a kind (only at SC), where he could hold initial counter status at two schools the same year. Some are saying his schollie might be coming off in June, others say no…
What does scottie say?

When it comes to this particular question, Pudly, Scott usually falls back on Leonard Susskind’s seminal work on multi-universes….
